ANNOUNCING: The Ultimate Ford EFI Tuning Guide for HP Tuners

We are pleased to announce the release of The Ultimate Ford EFI Tuning Guide for HP Tuners Software.

This guide leaves nothing out and is the most comprehensive tuning manual LaSota Racing has ever produced. It is a pure tuning guide, using HP Tuners tuning hardware and the basics of navigating/configuring HP Tuners software are not covered. That leaves more room for strictly tuning information. Even though HP Tuners currently covers 05+ years, we have included tuning information for earlier years also so you will be ready when they make it available. 100+ pages of pure tuning information. Meant for HP Tuners Tuning shops, but also for the hard-core hobbyist!

You can read about it here! But DON'T ORDER FROM THAT LINK. Instead we are having a special introductory sale for HP Tuners Forum members - save $10. Go here for the special sale web page.

Unfortunately do not offer overseas shipping just yet. But we do have protected .pdfs for download (cannot print or copy them). We also have them available on LuLu.com as Ebooks, on iTunes/iBookstore for iPad and on Barnes & Noble NOOK. Sorry, because of the third parties handling the electronic copies, we cannot offer these at sale prices.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum Don!

Also if you aren't already aware we recently added a few ford tables to all the ford defs that appear to be useful for boosted applications

Max allow value for inferred map-“Calculated MAP Max” under engine-airflow-general-speed density
Max Load Seen By Engine-“Max Load”-under engine-airflow-general-speed density
Max allowed value of FP flow-“Fuel pump flow max” under fuel system-fuel pump
Fuel injector breakpoint multiplier for deltaP-“injector breakpoint mult vs pressure” under engine-fuel-injectors
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

A wise man once said "google it"

Thanks! Yes Bill, I think I was aware you added those - Great job and Great news! It'll make things so much better!

Thanks GTP - we are having the books sent right from our printing company to combat delays. Right now we are transitioning between UPS and USPS, so it could come either way.

Bought it today via itune (oversea). (yeah I Tune ;-))
Excellent book, I didn t expect a such good book when I ve read the first 36 pages on itunes.
    I m already on page #100.
One remark : I ve just had a look on the datalogging chapter. There is no information about setting a specific histogram for maf tuning, just dataloging the wideband & maf voltage.

Glad you like it! When I did the book, I basically set it up showing the way I have successfully tuned thousands of cars - and that's one of the many things I log, MAF Volts vs Lambda on a wideband. And like I said in the book, there is more than one way to skin a cat. I just like doing it the way I have always done it and it has never let me down.

Just got it in the mail. Only flipped through it so far, but it looks like there is a lot of good info in there. Thanks for the fast shipping and writing something that has been neglected.

Don@LRT: Can you HONESTLY confirm Hp Tuners is a desirable platform for tuning Ford vs. SCT?

Ignorant to the Ford platform usage.

YES, HP Tuners is great for tuning Fords, especially now that the 'missing' parameters have been added.

Yes, the guide covers earlier vehicles that HP currently does not cover - I see it as added value because there may come a day when HP adds earlier cars (most likely not pre-1996, i.e. non-flashable) in which case, I won't have to spend another year revising this guide and adding them. And the customers - dealers, etc, will be ready to go.

i think itll be a big help with the newer mod engines, also because of the addition of cam phasers and also electronic throttle bodies on the newer fords. will definatly be picking this up, you can never have enough information!

and don, years ago of course this is when i was much younger i had a ford taurus, that your burned a customer switch chip for. car ran like a champ untill the 300k mark. glad to hear your still furthering your company.

Bought Don's books today. Already reading up. Looks to be some very useful info. There's a huge void in the Ford tuning world to begin with. Glad to see someone willing to share their knowledge. Thanks Don!!

The new Ford electronic throttle stuff is whacky. I could use some insight as there is little to no public information on tuning these systems. GB's new book and DVD goes into it in detail. I will be picking up his package too.

I agree! I have done a couple 3v S197 car's and found this out. A fella had a S197 that had the famous 'Bama tune you hear alot about and they must of done the COW booster to it or something because you could literally touch the pedal and it would instantly rev... I personally didn't like it especially trying to get the durn thing backed up onto the dyno to get some baseline run's for him.

I also ordered the guide. I'm currently using Binary Editor for the older Ford stuff and it's been a pretty good task reverse engineering parameters to see exactly what they do especially since the terminology is quite different from GM.

    I just brought it !

It's a shame that it not possible to print it, it's easier to read on paper than on my 12 inch laptop ...

I had to do that with the .pdfs, unfortunately. I have a line of training video CDs that have been out for a couple years and they were unprotected. They were copied all over the place. Some people even had the gall to post about it on car forums. Even though I say on the website I can't ship overseas, usually I can if someone really wants a printed copy. It just costs more to ship. Initially, with the huge rush of orders I did not because shipping overseas involves filling out customs forms and a trip to the post office. But things have leveled off now, so I have a bit more time to fill out the paperwork and ship them.

It definitely was not really covered in this book other than to say use a known throttle body or to go to an experienced calibrator....bit disappointed in this.
