Thread: E40 ECM scaling for 160-190lb injectors

  1. #21
With no intention to hijack the thread..

I'm on 50% with my e40 but still facing startup and idle issues. I took the idle tab back to stock with no scaling according to Carl. Still facing lots of issues. Car won't start without the gas pedal. So I have been playing with the startup airflow I almost doubled it and things did not work out. I have the cranking VE now at 105% still the car isn't starting right. Also played with the "FA Mult Stage 1 vs Time" still not working out. I'm kind of lost on how those tables should be.

    I appreciate any guidance..

I experienced the same thing. I chalked it up to the fact that since removing my blower kit I have the MAF/IAT tie wrapped to the radiator (speed density). When I ran my old tune which did not have all the tables scaled, just the VE and spark tables, it started a lot better but I was not happy with the idle. I didn't get much of a chance to play with it before I took the car down for the motor swap and TT.

I posted my scaled E40 in the repository. Starts and idles great. I had to promise FIC not to publicize the injector parameters, so most of those are changed back to the stock parms. You'll need to plug in your injectors' parms for it to work well.

I don't see the tune in the repository yet, so here you go.

Don't they want the correct data (if there is any) out there?

I don't know why either. If the parms only work well for these injectors, why not let them be public? More reason for people to purchase this specific injector I would think. Certainly I'm not the only person he's asked this of.

The parameters do work well. When I was initially fighting with the scaled tune, I reverted back to stock parameters, (and Siemens 60# parms) a few times and it always made it worse.

Just for kicks, send the data to dsx dot tuning at gmail dot com. I'll tell you right away if it's ID's data, which they did in another scenario... They're probably asking you not to share to prevent another round of litigation as a result of their last "data" hand outs. Lol.

I'm willing to bet they don't want it shared because they don't want to be exposed again for handing out another company's injector data. It is just really funny to me.

I'll spend the extra $$$$ to have some ID2000's that come with data and save some $$$$ at the same time knowing the injectors work properly & i wont be rebuilding a motor!!

No sir, but you need to also scale the IVT Terms to the same as the stoich scaling.

Correct. It's very few things.. stoich, injector flow rate, IVT terms. That is it
