Right. I can change it for you though. You will have to burn more credits unfortunately.

Forget the custom OS thing. I was confusing you with another poster.

Take the file I posted and do a write entire. Then you're done. If you want the info from your previous tune, just copy it over to the file I posted with your VIN.

    You need the beta.

I have beta. Ok, I can write entire, but not sure about copying over the custom info from my tune.

I think ya can. Not positive, as I'm mostly unlimited licenses. I just tried it in a truck file (I don't have unlimited trucks) and it looks like I can.

Give it a try and see what happens. If you can send me the PCM, I can probably clone it for you so you don't have to use any more licenses.

Ed, I might have to take you up on that offer where are you located? If I only have to buy two credits for the custom os I wont mind that I just don't want to buy four. I should be done with the swap within the next two weeks if everything goes as planned.

The only reason the vin needs to match is to keep vats happy correct? If so I could just disable it? I don't mind not having it.

Did it crank before you flashed it? Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.

    I didn't flash it.

Curtis Loveday tried changing the vin on his file and it wouldn't let him. HPT told him he needed the model year license. I wonder why you're able to.

I dunno. It's not grayed out or anything. I can highlight it and delete it and copy in another one. Only thing I did do was save it, because it was a totally unlicensed file.

I'll try another one that's licensed, but not of the unlimited license variety. I'll let you know something in a min.

Yep. Worked for me. changed VIN and saved it, opened it back up and it was the changed VIN.

BTW, I've got other software I can put in any VIN I want. But this I did with just HPT.

Did you flash it with the a4 calbration yet? This is getting confusing talking about two different cars here, and neither one of you is being very descriptive of what you're doing, status, etc. No data logs, nothing. How is anyone supposed to help?

Are you on the A4 cal? Have you logged it while trying to start? Any codes? Do you have a P/N input? Does it say it's in park?

If you're still on the M6 cal, what are you doing for a clutch switch input?

honestly... I am lost in hptuners.

I started the post and it has been somewhat side tracked.

My car was originally an M6 car. 18 months ago we installed a 4l80e and used a pcs tcm2000 to control the tranny, but never could get the speedo to behave correctly.

so, we decided to swap the main harness with one from a donor a4 car and utilize a harness adapter from pcm4less and their tcm42 that was programmed for my car including vin.

I scanned the car, no codes. The clutch switches and vats were disabled long ago.

I have not flashed the earlier posted stock a4 tune file due to concerns, that may be unfounded? I have a heavily modified 427 with tvs2300, modified injectors, and a speed density tune. If I load a stock tune as mentioned, will my car run? Will it damage the engine?

Or am I not to load the provided stock tune, but somehow use it along with my tune setting? or? or? or?
