Thread: 05 GTO M6 to A4 help with tune files

    ok.... Phil aka blue devil called. He had me open the stock tune and copy all the custom stuff from my tune to the stock tune, I saved it and know I am headed to the garage to load the new tune.

    hmmmm.... Same results. Time to recheck the wiring and maybe the aftermarket alarm. JOSH

    ok.... it cranks, it runs ROUGH. Slipped in to safe mode, and running REAL rich. Scanner found P2101. I obviously didn't get ALL the tune files transferred over.

    Let's start with, what did you do to get it to start? That's first question. Then next is, can you please post your latest version of your tune? And do you have a data log of it starting and going into limp mode? It's hard to advise, if there's no material to review. Only a two sentence post.

    To get it to crank = the aftermarket alarm.

    It first fired and would only run for a couple seconds = changed tune to 2bar map as it was in original custom tune.

    You had the MAF codes set to no error. Can't do that. It won't run. Try this one out.

    The MAF has to be reported as failed to default to speed density.

    well, I need to figure out what the problem is with the tb. We have a dtc of P2101. The a4 donor harness arrived with a damaged pigtail for the tb so I ordered a replacement pigtail and Josh soldered it in to the harness. Josh rechecked it last night and all checked fine.

    I would suggest you consult either a FSM or consider a subscription to alldatadiy.com for your car. I believe it's about 20 bucks for a one or two year subscription.

    Look up the code, and go through the diagnostic procedure.

    Why is it that Beta version 2.23.469 won't open this HPT file? (Array out of bounds) I just D/L'd this beta a couple weeks ago. What version are you using?

    Hang in there Tom. Once it's finally running well, you'll quickly forget all about these "bumps in the road".

    If you could post your original M6 tune, it would be much easier for someone to help create a new one using the A4 OS.

    well.... it took a tech2 and the passthru module. Kyle aka silverstreak04 found that the 2005 A4 stock file that we used was corrupt. He was able to retrieve a file from GM and the tb now works. I still have to take my custom tune and transfer all to the new tune.

    I posted my tune file here recently if you'd like to use it as a base for the 4L80e shift points and lockup (stock 3.46 gearing).

    ok..... car runs and idles thanks to "a tuner" transferring over all the custom tune files to the new stock 05 tune.

    DIC displays "service vehicle soon" scanner has dtc's:
    P0102
    P0787
    P2764

    The P0102 I tried changing the setting for reporting, only difference found was the car would start, idle rough and would die.

    You must have overwritten the reprogrammed TCM. The reprogramming service P4Less offers turns off P0787 and P2764.

    You can get rid of these another way without reprogramming. I'll bet when you first place the car into gear and drive, it up-shifts normally, but will not down shift back into first when coming to a stop. This is because one or both of these codes are present.

    P0787 - You get this one because the 3-2 shift solenoid does not exist in the 4L80e. My solution was to add a resistor to the circuit to fake the TCM into sensing the presence of a solenoid. No TCM reprogramming required.



    P2764 - You get this one because the plug-and-play cable probably only uses the TCC enable line, and therefore, the TCM does not sense the presence of the TCC PWM solenoid. Again, no special reprogramming required.

    I hooked mine up like this:



    You either need to have your TCM reprogrammed by the adapter cable manufacturer to get rid of the two codes above, or add circuitry to the cable yourself to fake out the TCM.

    Very interested in how to use a E40 T42 to run a 4L80E is this all you need to do wiring wise? What about the I.S.S sensor, and is the 20 way inline trans connecter pinned the same for the 4L60E as the 4L80E?

    This is all that was needed on my '06 GTO. The ISS sensor is not used. I did not re-pin the transmission connector at all. Rather, I made all of the wiring changes at the T42.

    Several months have passed and its still working great.
