Is it possible to do a E40 4L80E swap? Since we can't segment swap these PCMs ??

I'm looking to swap a 4L80E into a 06 Trailblazer SS wiht a E40 PCM T42 TCM. Is this possible? Can't get a segment swap on these PCMs. So if it's possible I'm guessing it would take some tuning!

I believe the 06 Trailblazer SS has the I.S.S so that shouldn't be a problem, but I thought I read that the 2-3 solenoid is different or PWM on the 4L80E. Can that be tuned out?

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you need to do any segment swaps. There are a few people who sell the plug and play harness and I believe you only need to turn off a code or 2. Check TunedbyFrost, and PCMforLess...off the top of my head I know they both sell the harness. I've worked with Frost before (he tuned my 98SS) and PCMforless has tuned my brother in laws bolt on 2wd TBSS (runs 12.27). Also, if you swap out the TCM for that of a GTO, your converter won't unlock at 0% tps. I hope this helps some.

Thanks so I should stick with a trailblazer TCM.

I found a right up on a GTO, you can't turn off T42 codes there is no support for it! But you can use a resister and fake the PCM, to thinking 2-3 is there. and use a relay resister to controll the PWM TCC

Guessing your T42 TCM is using OS 24235341 - if so, some of the early 2007 new style Sierra / Silverado 2500 series pickups with the LY6 6.0 L, used 4L80 transmission in 4 x 4 applications - as the 6L90 was being phased in.

These trucks used OS 24235341 (which is probably the same as your Trailblazer) in the T42 TCM - programmed for the 4L80.

If you plan on running a converter, I would swap out to the GTO TCM. You'll want to keep the converter locked on the highway....plus you can have it lockup and stay locked crusing down the street. Just my $.02.

OK Thanks the reason why I ask is I build engine harness for V8 Colorado swaps so far I've done 4L60E and T56 swaps but want to get into 4L80E and 6L80E.

If you can pull the codes that would be perfect, as long as there are no resistors or relays and resisters to worry about, then I can just wire it up like a 4L60E.

I would love to do a 6L80E is this possible? I know it's not with the E40. But what about a E67 and 58x motor with a 2009 Colorado 5.3L starter file, will the T43 6L80E/6L90E work with that or is there some kind of patch available to? I can get a kit to have external PRNDL signals and send them back to the T42, so it sends them to the dash. The Colorado needs cluster signals, and speed signals sent via serial data. I don't know if I can use the Can from the T43 to send it to the E67 or T42, and then have the PCM send out the speed and other signals on Serial data?

A 6l80e swap is possible with a E40. Do a google search for True Blue Motorsports.

TBM offers 6L80 conversions for Trailblazers using the E67 ECM. The E40 ECM will not communicate with the T43 TCM.

Right, sorry I should have been more specific. I was meaning more to the point that they get them to work in cars/trucks that were originally equiped with E40 ECM's.

OK, so you'd have to change reluctors then. 24x to 58x fore plus 4x cam then the E67 T43 would work with there kit.

The TCM and harness programming is $850.00!!! I wonder why so much!

I'm curious if a E67 6L80E can be done with HP tuners and wiring no special tricks.

The 09 CTS-v has a E67 and T43. If I start with that, and swap all the 09 Colorado engine control tables over, then switch the speed and tach signal over to serial, I think it should work. The pedal from the CTS-v would need to be used, and some wiring might need to be done to get the dual gas gauge to work on the single Colorado one.

I wish there was a way to just copy over the transmission tables from the CTS-v, but I don't think HP tuners has enough control over that.

I'd be curious to see if you can adapt a 4L80 into a C6Z and use the controller from the trans. Heh. Off topic, slightly, I know.

C6& has what E67? and T42? Then you should b able to either use a resister relay and another resister to run the 4L80E or "wait for me" can remove the codes.

2005 C6 used an E40 ECM and T42 TCM. 2006+ used E38 ECM (except ZR1 which used an E67 ECM) and T43 TCM.

You might get a 4L80 to work with a 2005 C6 - don't know - never worked on one - mainly do customs / Hot Rods.

OK thanks either way it should work, either by tuning or resisters
