JTEC support - Will it ever be available?

    Hi

I'm wondering if JTEC will be supported at some time in the (near) future or if it got "to old" by now?

once 2.24 is released we will have an eta for many things Dodge related. If i remember right, i have already coded the read (it works) and some of the scanner stuff for JTEC & JTEC+. I'm not sure how far we'll go (like older trucks etc.) but Viper is definately on the list.

Please try to support Dodge and Jeep Trucks!! It's a big community which needs a good tuning solution.

Well, they aren't using JTEC controllers (which is the topic of this thread)...
But yes, our Jeeps need to be supported!

At first I got all excited at the news that HP Tuners was going to come out with a solution for my Dodge.... What a let-down that it's not really coming. A number of my friends use HP Tuners on their Chevies and was looking forward to being able to tap into the "brain trust" a without actually having to swing an LS motor over the fenders.

From a company owner that works a great deal on jeeps, I would say that there is a huge market availbe if there were a good tuning solution for the jeeps ecms. I have done many engine conversions to LS motors but that is becoming more and more difficult with the new emission laws that change and get more strigent all the time. There are many great 4-6 cylinder motors out there that are great for conversions into these jeeps if we could get the jeep computers un locked. It would also help greatly with emissions since all the factory jeep equipment would be retained.

FYI these pcm's(or any other factory pcm for the most part) were never intended for engine swaps so if thats all your looking to do you'll likely have a hell of a time. While we allow you to alter the pcm its really meant mainly for the original motor with parts added ie guy throws on a blower, heads, cam, etc. we try and give access to whatever tables will be necessary to properly tune for it(dodge has some major limitations in the pcm that even can hinder major modifications to the stock motor). But yeah if the only market is for engine swaps, gear/tire changes its a hard sell for us to invest much time there.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

i guess engine swap is the only market right now due to no engine tuning availability.

yeah you dont tune a different motor without the correct ecm for it, ie a jeep ecm with ls motor, probably impossible/stupid to do so like that and a waste of time. the purpose of unlocking the original ecm, like bill said, is to tune the original motor parameters, not for an engine swap. if you want to go that route, motor swap, youre better off with an aem standalone engine management system or whatever theyre called, not what hptuners does.

we just need the original ecms unlocked for the original motors, nothing else.

so are the jeeps on backorder because of lack of demand or lack of ecms to decode?

if there is a JTEC support so you can tune your mopar that will open a market for the "home" tuner ...if there was no aftermarket stuff for gm cars/trucks i dont think so many would have them
mopar vehicler have always suffer in the aftermarket/performancestuff and people still have them anyway
