    C6 6L80E Shift Speed Confusion

    I'm about ready to dive into tuning my 2007 C6 A6 tranny.
    I have the Tuning School Book but I'm still confused on a couple points and wondered if someone would take the time to shed some light on it for me.

    Ian and others have stated that on the C6 Normal and Pattern A is the selector in Drive and Pattern B is Sport.

    However when I examine the stock HP tables it seems like that cannot be the case.

    On the Shift Speed vs TPS and WOT Shift Speed tables Normal figures are the same as Pattern B not Pattern A. If Normal and Pattern A are in fact different then they both can't be selector in Drive. Am I missing something?

    On the Shift Speed vs TPS table The Tuning School Book instructs to enter the same modified figures on all 3 patterns (normal, A and B). If I changed all 3 I wouldn't need to know which was which. This would be ok if I wanted Drive and Sport to be the same but I don't. I am going to leave Drive stock and only modify Sport.

    1. If I want only Sport to be changed and Drive left stock which table/pattern do I modify?

    On the flip-side say I wanted to only modify Drive. Would I:

    1. Only mod the normal table?
    2. Only mod the Pattern A table?
    3. Mod Normal and one of the Patterns and if so which pattern.

    From what I understand the patterns are as follows.
    normal = normal mode
    pattern A = sport mode
    pattern B= not used (or maybe for cruise control?)
    TUTD = manual mode

    You also want to make the WOT table match the last two collums of the Part Throttle tables.

    This is the way the patterns are for the G8 with a 6L80. Pattern B, to the best of my knowledge is simply not used. I always matched it to pattern A. Correct on the matching of WOT and part throttle tables too. I like to match from about 70% on part throttle.

    Don't forget to make your your downshift tables don't conflict with your upshift tables. That can get 'interesting'.

    Thanks for everyone's responses.

    Mark and wreck. The Tuning School 6 Speed book addresses the G8 specifically since it was one of the test vehicles. Like you it says the G8 does not use pattern B at all.

    However the C6 does use pattern B. I don't know how the G8 identifies the actual shifter position in the car but the C6 only has Drive or Sport.

    My confusion is basically how 3 patterns translate into 2 shifter positions. Why have 3 patterns if 2 of them are exactly the same?

    Did you read my post? It is used when you have the cruise control set. Setup your scanner to log shift mode.

    Flame.
    Sorry I didn't grasp what you meant about cruise control.
    I didn't realize one whole table is devoted to cruise.
    Setting up the scanner to log shift mode will identify which one it is?
    Thanks

    I am quite sure that...

    Normal = drive
    Pattern B = sport
    Pattern A = may be cruise control, which I never use. I set it the same as normal.
