    Turbo Flutter

I have searched the forum on this issue and found that this may not be an issue to worry about. Mods: AEM CAI and catless down and HPT tuned. I only get this flutter at cruising speed on deceleration. After moderate to hard accleration, it sounds like I have an aftermarket B/V(normal). I notice when i use the stock intake tube (turbo to CAI pipe) this flutter is much quieter and almost nonexistant. I recently installed a ZZP upgraded intake tube on the AEM and noticed the flutter is louder than ever. I also noticed that that you can feel the car stumble when it does this (light accleration only). Moderate to hard acceleration the car runs flawless.

Any thoughts would be welcome and thanks in advance.

Sounds like you need to work on your maf tuning. Excessive stft swings will cause the stumble. Pretty much the nature of the AEM intake as I recall. A lot of maf turbulence.

I will work on those thanks. I had read your post about your experience with AEM CAI. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing any harm to the turbo. It sound like AEM makes racing sounds lol!

i used to weld three tabs on the inside of the AEM intakes with a tigwelder after installing a 3" airflow straightener infront of the maf location. it would help with some of the turbulence and bouncing maf values.

I will work on my STFT first and go from there. I may just go to the air box mod and my zzp intake tube. Thanks for the input.

I used a treadstone straightener on my custom Dejon, last one I settled on using a tapered coupler to the turbo instead of the rad hose sleeve it came with. lol.

Cut a 3" straightener down just a bit to fit and rtv'd it in the tube 1/2" in front of the MAF. Really didn't see much different with or without the straightener though.

I might try modify the intake. I didn't spend a lot for it so if I mess it up, I won't be out much. I read somewhere that someone made a CAI out of PVC pipe lol!!!!!
