Using the built in editor I got fuel trims within 0 to 1%. When I put it back to MAF/VVE it runs like crap. unexplained surge while cruising. Bucking/surging on take off. I gave up on VVE. My ZL1 runs smooth as stock when running MAF only. I think the HPTuners VVE editor should be looked at by the powers that be, and improved upon if possible. My 2 cents.

Have you logged VE, MAF and dynamic airflow to see what is going on?

I don't believe I was logging dynamic airflow ( mass air flow rate??) Should that be in a graph or just a channel to look at? You can look at the log if you like. VVE Tuning Rev 3.hpl

If you watch the commanded EQ while driving you will see some radical changes when the ecu switches from SD blended to filered MAF. I spent a week messing around with a cammed LSA GTS Commodore with driveability issues that has been to 2 other tuners, I tried MAFless and with MAF and utilizing the HP VE and it always had similar issues, bucking on WOT at low rpm as revving up due to a big change in calculated airflow. Eventually I went to the other guys and used the calculated VE as it back edits the stock coefficients and the car was fine, I picked up 2 more after that to fix with similar results. There is a difference in the airflows in the HP VE calculation to the factory Coefficients that differ too much from the MAF. I like the MAF as high speed timing and fuel is much more stable and i find I can make more power due to that with better driveability.

Hoping for a little direction here. Working a tune on a GMPP LS3 in a 67 Lemans. This is the first time I have tuned VVE, using Bluecats EQ<>VE version 4.2.2. Problem I am having is when trying to copy "Zone MAP Boundaries", I am just getting the red flash. I have tried the way it is said to be done, right click on button and copy. I also tried coping in the table page which has already been stated, wrong way. I am using the latest version of HPT and have tried deleting the VE program and downloading again twice. Same results. Also tried a totally different vehicle(08 H3, just to see if I could get past this point) with the same result. Zone RPM boundaries copies fine, green flash. I can manually copy paste but don't really want to have to put in all the constants manually if that will even work later on. Scratching my head, done hours of reading and haven't seen anyone with same issue or how to correct. I appreciate any advice.

Just use the built in virtual VE editor. It's built into HPT now.

Yes use the buillt in editor. The "hooks" needed for the bluecat tool to automatically paste back in have been removed

Thank you. I have used the editor before, just trying something different. I know, don't fix what isn't broke. (But we're hot rod car guys right...!)

I was about to spend the morning installing the necessary software (.net?) and hunting down the bluecat software to get started on my vve tuning. Are you saying with the latest version of HPT, I no longer need any 3rd party software to edit the VVE tables?

    I'm still on 3.0.

3.0 has it too. Edit, virtual VE editor.

I would move to latest version. If 3.0 is working then it should just be a quick upgrade to install 3.whatever the latest version is

Thanks. It's hard to keep up with this ever evolving collaboration of tuning software efforts. Especially when I only use it once in a while.

So just create a histogram to plot AFR error against the same row and columns as the VVE table and tune as if I was tuning a 3rd gen VE table?

I mean "graph", and it probably already exists.

Pretty much. You can change the axis headers in VVE editor to whatever you want them to be also.

Also make sure you make the manifold switch open and closed tables the same. Only one is typically used but the one that opens by default oftentimes isn't the one that is used, a lot of people had issues with that in the beginning

yes. mainly to see what kind of zone rpm and map boundaries it creates. Im not very good in that area.

You cant use bluecat with 3.0+
There is a built in editor now. See Schpenxel's post above. Click Edit on the top left, then click virtual volumetric efficiency. It brings up a single table that makes many changes to several of those individual speed density tables. When you make a change, Click calculate coefficients, The other tables will then be magically changed based on this one table.

I know this, but it doesn't provide any help with your boundaries. Which bluecat did

Yeah, that is the only downside of HPT's built in VVE editor

You will probably have to open each table individually and copy/paste them manually. The faster way of doing it doesn't work anymore. Honestly I haven't tried it at all in a while but that would be your best chance of success
