2.24 and future release plans explained

    Hi Guys,

We have released 2.24 and now that our major base code changes and internal development environment and systems are in place and proven stable our plans are this:

The current stable (even numbered) release eg. 2.24 main code will be frozen and only new definitions and other very minor items will be built into subsequent builds of the stable release. This differs to the past where everything was frozen to a single release. This will allow shops (and others who desire) to maintain running of the stable release while still receiving new definition, VIN/OS updates etc. You won't need to contact support for access to beta software to get a new definition just download from customer login.

The beta (odd numbered) release eg. 2.25 will incorporate all the additions to the stable release AND new code changes and features. For example, if we add support for a new PCM or some other new features they will be coded to the beta. This is the way we have always done things so nothing new here.

2.25 beta is expected to see daylight in a couple of weeks

It's been a long haul to get to this point and we look forward to the rest of the year.

    Chris...

Chris jumped the gun on the announcement, perhaps because he's from the future...

I've updated the website to point to 24.

From VCM Suite 2.22, there is an enormous amount of new things.

From the beta just a couple days ago, there's only a few bug fixes.

That's how our dev cycle will continue to work though. The beta will continue to get closer and closer to the next stable. When we're comfortable with it, we'll branch it off to create the new stable and then go to town on the next beta.

The biggest difference now is what Chris talked about. We'll continue to deploy vehicle information, calibration support, VIN information, etc.. through the published stable (currently 2.24). This will allow us to get a little funky with beta features.

Our current beta, 2.25, which isn't available yet is already pretty funky, but we do expect it to be pushed stable in a month or two...

Was probably already supported in 2.22

With that said my post was only to show the amount of work that went into 2.24 and that was a ton of new support added. There's always a chance I missed a few in there(and probably did) but that just means we did even more work
