    O2 Sensor Placement Help

    Hello All.........

Just recieved a new AFX Air-Fuel Ratio Monitor.

I was wondering, Where is the best place to install the sensor?

    2000 Camaro - LS1 - A4

I have long tubes into a y-pipe (pictured below).

I was thinking about putting it here.

It would be Easy to put that pipe on the bench to weld the bung.

Plus I don't have to drill a header.

The easy way is most likely not the best way. LOL

Where is the best place? Where would you guys weld it?

    Thanks in advance......... Steve

I would put it in the middle of that pipe if that is the side you are wanting to pull from just to keep it away from any pipe connections. Ideally I've gotten the best readings on many cars with it at least 8-10" + from the collector. Some of the headers I've seen have the o2 bung right on the end of one of the primary tubes at the collector and they never read as good as one after the merge.

I agree after the merge about 5-10 inches down

OK...... Move it back 5", 8"-10"

I pointed where i did because it was closer to the engine.

"I would put it in the middle of that pipe if that is the side you are wanting to pull from"
I could go to the right/passenger if that is better?
I would quess after the Y would be to far from the engine but could get both sides together.

Thanks for the quick replys. Just wanted some pro advice before I drill and weld. Hate to find out later.... "that was a stupid place to it"

Driver's side is typically leaner on the ls engines. Best to keep it there.
