differance between ses enable box and 3 no error reported?

what does unchecking the ses enable box do compared to just setting it to 3 no error reported?.

If error happens it will set a code but will not Turn Mil on

If error happens it will ignore it and not report and will not set a Dtc

Mine just shows "No error reported" no 3... Does this still do the same thing as 3? or will it still set a code
