1997 LT1 swap to LQ4 Basic Questions

I'm just starting to swap my engine in my 97 WS6 from an LT1 to an LQ4 with 99+ pcm. Since I live in Illinois, they scan and verify readiness, including the vin. My question is since the vin for the 1997 is not supported according to the VIN Change rules in the help files, how would I go about changing the vin?
