    A quick 5.3/4L60e to 6.0L/4L80e Segment swap o/s question?

Just want to make sure that I'm taking the easiest steps to get my segment swap done. I've done lots of reading and think that I've got it figured out but just want someone to tell me if there is an easier way. My o/s is 12579405 out of a 2003 Silverado with a 5.3l/4l60e. I'm installing a 2001 6.0l/4L80e, so I need a compatible o/s with the 80e. Closest I've found is this o/s 12593058 with this info:

    OS 12593058

    Calibration History for: Operating system
Part Number CVN Bulletin # Description
12593058 N/A - New software to address idle surge condition caused by throttle body choking.
    12580055 N/A - Operating System (replaces 12578128 or 12579405)
    12578128 N/A - Operating system

Question is do I need to get the o/s updated with Tech 2? If I do, what will happen to my current tune? My truck is cammed so I can't just have them flash it and drive it home, I'd have to copy/paste all my info over. With this, the o/s will match so a segment swap should be no big deal right? Also on the engine side, I'm assuming that it's as simple as just doing a copy/paste from a 6.0l? I'd use the 01 pcm, but my truck is DBW and i'm planning on running a tbss intake/throttle body. Am I on the right track or does someone know where I can get an 80e tune on the 1259405 o/s? Is this the easiest way? Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Doing a little more reading, it's not as simple as just selecting 4L80e in the trans settings, is it?

Question is, what are all those option boxes for? I can select 4.3, 5.0, 5.3, 5.7, 4l60-e, 4l80-e, manual etc, but they do nothing. I'd like some answers myself.

Yeah! We want answers. There's a guy on the LS1tech site thats running a turbo gen 3 4.8l with a 4l80E with the 4l80E wiring on a 3bar OS. He claims he didn't need a segment swap, he just set the option box to 4L80E and populated the trans tables with numbers from a 4L80E tune and it works fine.
Another guys says he tried it with his standard 1 bar OS and it didn't work. He had to get the segment swap.

Hey, sorry guys, I've got my truck put away for the winter so I haven't been on here much. I actually had another member volunteer to do a segment swap for me. I'm assuming since he didn't post that he probably doesn't want to be swarmed with requests. I basically just tried to find the same o/s but with a 4l80e to use for a segment swap, then he worked his magic for me. I drove the truck briefly before I put it away and it seems to work great.

I wish I could tell you more about it, but when a guy says email me your tune and you get it back with the swap done, you say thanks, instead of bothering him with tons of questions.
