    Security Light

I have a 2000 Silverado 5.3L A4 and have been tuning my truck for quite some time now.

One problem that I have 'looked away' to, is a security light that will not go away. Now that I have taken care of a few things, I think it's time to get this bright yellow thing off of my cluster.

    Can you help?

    Thanks.

what about some of the security learn codes, have you tried turning the error reporting for them off? Are you getting any codes from the PCM? The security codes dont have the SES light enabled, but you will still get a security light for them and the code will show in the computer.

Interesting thought. I haven't received any codes for the security light but, I'll check that out.

    Thanks.

I've had the security light come on my dad's '01SS a few times. Ended up being the key, it was a recut key that could get knocked loose in the tumbler while driving and it'd loose contact with the chip on the key which would set the security light. Problem is, I think the trucks don't have the chip on the key and that the chip is built into the tumbler itself. If you try and break the tumbler to unlock the wheel and start the car it'll destroy the chip portion. Maybe there's something going on with the tumbler in your truck.

Security light may be on due to your ignition switch. Is a very common problem in the Grand Am's. I'd go there first bud.

    Paul

PS: Yes, I know you drive a different veh. but they are still GM's!!!

And what might be wrong with my ignition switch?

    Thanks Paul.

Have you tried a BCM relink?

Not sure if that would work but someone here has bound to run into the SEC light issue before.
