smoke limitation tables, how do they work

working on an 08lmn, tuned a few but never really touched the smoke limitation tables since im not sure how they work, do they cut fuel when you approach a point where heavy smoke would be the result? im not looking for smoke as thats just wasted fuel but I am wondering at what point they cut in, tune I am working on is getting near 140hp and im wondering if they are cutting in.

any info or setting ppl you would be great help.

    thanks

what I am currently thinking is that the tables are just an allowed ratio of fuel to boost, so the lower numeric lambda like .85 would allow a lower afr and not cut fuel. as opposed to certain areas of the table that are above 1.0 which would allow less fuel compared to boost.

I realize I may be 100% wrong here. not looking to make smoke.

if any one can correct me that would be awesome. id love to learn more about these tables
