Having Trouble registering a vehicle (Supercharged Corvette)

Trying to help out a friend with his supercharged Corvette. He purchased his HPT interface used with 4 credits. He is unable to license his vehicle to the interface. When he tries, the only option he gets is to continue without licensing. the vehicle. he does have a 2 bar custom OS on the car. One weird thing I noticed is that the VIN in his PCM does not match the physical vin on his car. another weird thing I noticed is that it says YYYYYYYYYYYY for the VCM ID. He did mention something about having to swap PCM's before. Any help would be appreciated.

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

could you explain this statement please?

If you have enough credits you should be able to do the year/model or unlimited vcm license so long as the vin/os pair is a valid one.

how will i know or can tell if the vin/os pair is a valid 1?

this wont work with a costom os though will it?

so for example the car is a 2000 corvette with an automatic transmission. Can we get a uncorrupted tune from the repository or something and do a write entire and load the tune from the repository into the vehicle with problems and then do a custom OS upgrade to it?

If you want to fix the vcm id number you'd take a file that is not corrupt and do a write entire, that will fix the id number. From there I recommend rereading the pcm applying the custom operating system & going from there as normal.

Last night, I did take a file from the repository that is of the same year, engine and transmission type and applied a custom operating system to it. Than in compare mode, I took his original tune with the corrupt ID number and copied over all of the calibration files. the owner of the vehicle attempted tp uploaded the new file to the cars PCM with a "write entire". However, the PCM is not accepting the new tune file. a window is popping up that says "could not auto-lock the TCM in this file" when I try to upload the new tine file it also says that it needs to be licensed but, a licence for the tune file I'm trying to upload has already been purchased.

here is the tune file that is currently on the car. Rick Traylors Tune.hpt

here is the tune file that I'm trying to put on the car. Rick's new Tune that works.hpt

ps, should the application key have to be entered each time a tune file is opened? this is another thing that is happening that I haven't seen before.

Then you likely did something wrong. I've helped customers with this dozens of times over the years and have never had an issue.

One thing I noticed is these operating systems are not the same which, in itself, is a problem.
