    trying to understand one thing

After reading so many threads on many sites about VIN change, I would like some clarification on what I think I need to do.

I have a 98 Sliverado and I am swapping in an 01 LQ4 with a 411 PCM. In order to change the VIN in the 411 PCM I need to license my 98 and the 01 before I can put my 98 VIN in the 01 411 PCM? Total of 4 credits used.

    Thanks in advance.

    You cannot insert a 98 vin into a 411pcm.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Sorry Bill, but you can put the 98 VIN in the 0411. HPT will not longer be able to tune it, but one could have it done.

You can tune it with HPT using Write-Calibration-Only. The 98 VIN will remain untouched using write cal only, however it will be overwritten if Write Entire or VIN/tunerlock/VATS are used.
