My experience with filing a homeowner's insurance claim to replace stolen HPT

About a month ago, my laptop and HP Tuners cable were stolen out of my vehicle. HP Tuners' FAQ mentions that they cannot transfer licenses to a new cable and strongly recommend telling your insurance company about your investment in HPT. I learned throughout my ordeal, that the second that I took any compensation to help a friend/acquaintance with their vehicle, HPT became a tool (much like a wheel barrow or saw) and therefore had a specific coverage limit. In my case, the coverage limit was significantly less than the replacement cost of my HPT. I also urge you to read your policy to see if this provision exists for you!

PS. Thanks to Bill and Jay for helping me with this ordeal. The insurance company says "the check is in the mail today or tomorrow" but can't tell me the amount written on the check.

I think you have to insist more on the results of your insurance.
