Cluster replaced / Airbag light on

    Hiya,

I just replaced the gauge cluster in my 2000 V6 Camaro with a V8 Cluster from a V8. Tach is accurate, Speedometer dead on, everything else is working great.

But... the airbag light is on. My SRS is working fine. Popping my old cluster back in shows no light.

I read somewhere that perhaps the V8 car was wrecked and the light is latched???? I also read that the airbag light is mated to the system.

Anyone know why this is and if HPT can fix it?

The V6 and V8 Camaros use a different cluster / programmed differently.

The same problem (airbag light on) will occur if you install a 2000 to 2002 Silverado / Sierra cluster in a 1999 Silverado / Sierra.

    To answer your questions ...

Situation has nothing to do with whether or not the V8 car was wrecked - it is a communications protocol issue with your V6 car.

HPT cannot program the IPC (cluster).

Well poop. Guess it's electric tape time.

    Remove the bulb.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

It's an led soldiered onto the board. I know I could still get it out, but I read somewhere that the open circuit could cause other problems.

    Black paint over the bulb??

I'd do that instead of removing it then. It's better than tape on the dash.

The tape would go on the back side of the overlay, not the front where you would see it.

Black Plastidip maybe. That would probably work well.
