OP Sys Compatibility & PCM Support

    Howdy All,

I've just been looking at a few tunes & seems some people upgrade/downgrade OP Sys & even files from different PCM Types.

Does anyone know what can & can't be done & whats better files to run with as I thought the calibrated file for the vehicle would be best.

The 1 in particular I noticed was a HACH4 with ASU224 module that had been changed/tuned with file HACH3 normally on ASU174 module, I would have thought it would be downgrading, but who knows maybe running an old OP sys on later module has it's advantages?

Anyway if anyone knows about what can will run on what module & what better op sys's are that would be awesome!

    Cheers Grant

Agree x2. I use my Bosch Lt flasher to download the latest cal from fraud before tuning any car for the first time. Helpd prevent chasing cal related issues when tuning.

I'm assuming they have fees to download the calibration? What are they worth?

Aprox 500 for the unit and $30 for a 48hr subscription but there is no per vehicle licence structure so you could flash 50 cars in that 48hrs if need be.

Yeah It does seem pretty worth while to get the Ford device if you do a few of them!

With CAL/OP sys update it's exactly what I thought & not sure why 1 of the BIG tuner shops around would downgrade unless it was just easy & they knew it was compatible, but thanks for the input!

I've done this to death and haven't seen any benefit. If anything I have run into issues. But the theory is sound.

Sorry for the ignorance, but just checking you mean you've tried back dating op sys's & run into troubles?

It seems weird to update op sys & run into trouble, but I guess it's just a matter of knowing what op sys is compatible with what vehicle (don't take this the wrong way as I know you know what can & can't be done, it's just us mere mortals trying to keep up).
