is there a generic "base" file I can download to modify the stock pcm settings to get better power? the only thing i have is an Injen intake and I am just learning how to use the software.
thanks!

Search the tune repository on the home page.https://www.hptuners.com/customers/tune.php You'll find several stock tunes there.
You should really read and save your ECM to a file for safe keeping and then use it to start making modifications after reading through the LNF guides that cobaltssoverbooster posted. It has lots of good information from several members. http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...357-LNF-Guides
to answer your question, no there is not a "base" file you can download to get more power, unless you have a lnf and are going from the stock tune to the gms1. thats the only way to "swap" tunes and get more power but you better do some reading up on this and how to make it work right. there really is no direct tune swap, theres cutting and pasting and modifying.
any more questions just ask.
2008 Sky RL
there is a starter file i produced for public use but that will still require adjustment. its the proper way to get a great tune
2000 Ford Mustang - Top Sportsman
that is perfect. then i can see and compare the 2 tunes and what changes were made.
my local dyno wants $400 just to do a gms1 type flash so i figured why not just buy the tuner. I can learn and teach my son at the same time
it is his first car and a project for the 2 of us and we will be making modifications over time and this knowledge will come in handy. he is 15, who knows it may peak his interest for a career path
thanks
Btw: we have a 2005 cobalt 2.0 ss
If you have a 05 SS then you do not have the LNF. You have the LSJ. You will need parts along with a tune to make power.
08 Carbon Flash Redline 5 speed
Fujita intake and Charge tubes
you do not have an lnf your tune will have to be made from scratch
always lead your threads with vehicle data so we dont guess the wrong vehicle like we did. it only helps you get the right info faster.

Ok will do. this is my first post here and just learning the ropes.
what do you suggest to get the "tune made from scratch?"
is there a GMS1 tune file online here? i just want to get rid of the torque management and up the rev limiter. i am keeping the stock pulley and fuel injectors (green) for now.
Thanks for the help
Start here;

http://www.redlineforums.com/forums/...ve-tuning.html
Then after you have read that, check out the LSJ Guides thread;
http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...965-LSJ-Guides
And a word of advice, if you want your car to survive, don't just copy and paste the files in that thread. And if you're on the stock injectors, leave the injector data alone.
