2003 Corvette 4L80... Anybody done it?

I checked around for files to do a segment swap, but I can't find anything with the same OS ID to segment swap a 2003 Corvette to a 4L80. Has anybody out there done this conversion and already has a file? I think my only option is going to be reverting the PCM back to a 2002 operating system and changing the VIN.

The only two 2003 Corvette OS IDs that I have are 12221588 and 12593358.

I don't see you being able to to a segment swap, since the 2003 C5 is still a P01, and I think every other 2003 is a P59, so I doubt you're going to find a compatible file.

I would guess 2002 code, or try flipping the switch in the 2003 tune to 4L80E and see if it works.

Shouldn't be any issues going back to 12212156 other than the fuel disable safety thing that they updated the 2002's for...12593358 was an update to 2002's and I believe shipped in 2003's...you might try looking through 2002 truck files for the 4L80E segment you need...since 12593358 is found in 2002 and 2003 C5's...but I doubt that OS ever made it into a truck/SUV.

12212156 and 12593358 use the same segments for transmission, trans diagnostic, and engine diagnostic. I bet you could swap the the 12212156 4l80 trans segment into it and it would work. I did this once before on a p59 file, found 2 o/s that were different but shared segements and were very close once I got in and looking around.

Unfortunately, HPT won't let me do that.

    Dave,
Do you have the calibration in .tun or .bin that you can send me. Or--Will HPTuners open a .bin? If so, I can send you a stock 2003 Vette 12221588 OS w/4L80.
    PM me if interested.

Could just post it for all to see.

So 12212156 and 12593358 share the same trans and trans diag segments. I had 2 files to compare with and confirmed on TIS. When I edited it in hex the locations were all the same. It passes hpt validation check. I HAVE NOT TESTED IT IN A PCM.

I don't own HPT yet---So, I can't post it in that format. I can post it in .tun, .cal, .bin I also have not tested it in a PCM but it opens fine in EFILive and Tunercat. The one you posted is probably identical to mine and should be what he needs.

I'll try this one. It's not like the world will implode if it fails.

You guys rock. Thank you for your efforts. I still have to build the wiring conversion harness for this 4L80, and it might be a month or two, but I'll give it hell.

Fwiw, I believe HPT will open a bin file. Post it up, and I can test that one as well.

HPT will open a bin, it just won't save without converting to .hpt

Same with EFILive...it'll open a .bin but only save in their format.

I should clarify...2.25 beta will not open .bin files. I wonder if we're losing that functionality when 2.26 goes final? 2.24 still will open it though.

I posted about it, they are removing ability to read bins. There is some other method in works for "custom" work that they have chosen not to elaborate on.

Can you guys tell me, how do you know these segment numbers? Is there a master list or is this just experience? I am wanting to do a segment swap from a 60 to a 80, and I have everything I need to do it, just, not sure how to make sure I do it correctly, without knowing the numbers for sure. Thanks!

Punch the VIN into GM TIS, it will list all the segments used in your calibration.

OSID has to match, other than that you just need to have file that has 60 and file that has 80 and load them both with 2.25. HPT will not let you swap if they don't match. You can view the segment numbers using hpt as shown in pic.

Did you get this going Dave? Here is a 12221588 file swapped to 4l80 also if it works better for your vehicle.
