    e92 programming harness

I just built a E92 programming harness , but I cannot connect or get the ECM to turn on. I believe my wiring diagram is correct. the ECM is drawing 26ma with switch off and 48 when switched on. I'm trying to connect with a gm MDI. I purchased the ECM used off ebay. any thoughts would be helpful

    Nice drawing !!!

Is that a diode connected to pins 22 and 26 ?

You have ignition (switched) voltage going to pins 51 and 73 (not certain if 73 is necessary or not). Pin 70 (Accessory Wakeup) needs ignition voltage.

that is an LED to let you know that switched power is being applied to pin 51 and 73, simulating ignition on. I also tried putting +12v to Pin 70 (Accessory Wakeup) and current draw did not go to any considerable amount. when I say +12v, I mean 13.2V from a regulated bench power supply with about 40mV ripple

Have never measured voltage draw - so no idea on that. With pin 70 hot, you should now have CanBus comms with the ECM - try reading the calibration to confirm.

your pin 22 and 26 for ground don't look correct
22 - A/C Refrigerant Pressure Sensor Low Reference
26 - Fuel Level Sensor Low Reference

Here is how I wired my E92 for MDI programming

    X1 connector
    Battery 12V - Pin 52
    Switched 12v - Pin 51
    CAN + - Pin 39
    CAN - - pin 40

    x2 connector
    Ground - Pin 73

That is all that was needed.

I put +12V to pin 70 and could not read , I measured continuity between pins[X1 22. 26, 30, 53, 68] and [X2 pin 73] and [X3 pin73] they are all signal ground connections. I did connect [X2 pin73] to battery - as well and could not read, my guess is a dead ecm, I will get another and try again. It was very dry in my office and I did have a static spark touching the case - maybe i blew it

O.K. I am able to read the new ECM with this cable the ECM draws 0 ma with power off and 280 ma with power switched on at 13.2V
next I will re-flash using SPS

After a lot of testing I have to agree with you. That is all you need for bench top flashing. With pins 22 and 26 the vcm says unlock delay not respected, and with the resistor wired in i get the ''detect protocol failed''.

Thanks a lot to both of you for providing the informations

I’ve got a 1999 Dodge ram 1500 with a 5.2 L and I’m trying to put a new PCM in it and I need to know how I go about putting the new PCM in and programming it to my truck. My truck starts with the one I put in it at idle runs fine but as soon as I give you gas, it starts sputtering, spitting and misfiring backfiring I need to know what’s going on. This PCM has to be working somewhat in my truck because my truck starts and runs. Tell me what else I need to do to program this the rest of the way to my truck thank you.
