    MPVI Questions

When you purchase a MPVI, do you choose the license, or does it just choose the 1st car its connected to?

Will it upload (read) cals (bin files) from various PCMs without purchasing a license for each vehicle you want to read?
Reason for question-- I would like to pull cals from several different model years of a vehicle and compare for differences.

Can it be used as a scan tool on multiple vehicles without multiple licenses?

when you go to read a file it will prompt you to buy the license...you cannot read/write to a file you dont have a license to. It can be used as an enhanced parameter scan tool on any vehicle they offer support for...and for most GM obd2 cars that they dont offer support for it will at least give you generic parameters.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

btw just to be a little more clear you can read files other people send you or you get your hands on as long as its in bin/hpt format...just that you cannot go to your buddies car with an 00 silverado and hope to be able to read the file directly from his computer...if your buddy with the 00 silverado has hpt he can read the file & email it to you and you'll be able to open & read it..just not alter or write it.

What will happen if you try to read a file that is not yet supported?

it will ask you to purchase the license...if you decide not to purchase it you will not be able to read the file.
