    2016 3500hd 6l90 trans replacement

My buddy is going to be replacing the transmission in his truck. My research shows it will need to be programed. Can I download stock file from old trans and drop in the new reman trans. Basically thinking a read all and flash all deal. I'm not able to find much on this topic so thanks for the help.

Highly suggest hooking up with someone with a MDI from the dealer. The replacement serta trans usually doesn't have a good base in the tcm or sometimes they have nothing useable. They can be done with a HPT device but often it misses data. I suggest paying the dealer if you can't find someone with gm access to techline connect.

It all depends on the TEHCM in the transmission. If is blank like a new one, then it will not work. However, if it is a use one that was used during the reman process, then yes you will be able to transfer the program over from your old TEHCM.
