    I wouldn't
Only reason to bother is that It becomes a more cost effective conversion without the added expense of the ECU.
    That is the only reason.

Seems strange you could only load it with 2.25 seeing I made sure the file was 2.24 version, but as far as the fault codes I would need to go through them when I get more time & see what kill each other & what's needed but think Hiddeous will possibly know a solution or test to start with?

I'd like to just have the 1 cheaper option too & less to cause future issues!

I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I'm busting to know how this bad boy performs! What's initial out of the hole power like? How would it compare to something like a Mercruiser 350? Is there much initial turbo lag when going WOT from a standstill? I'd love to convert my old mid mount 350 ski boat using an fg engine with the smaller comp wheel Garrett. I'd also fab a water/air aftercooler intake manifold like the early Cummins engines used.

    Cheers,

Yeah I don't know what was going on but that was the only way I could get it to work. What probably didn't help was that I thought I was on the latest version as had updated it but an earlier version was opening...
Have learnt that apparently on the manuals if there is a reverse light circuit fault that they will limit around that point.

Agree on the cheaper option (if can be made to work) but would prefer the Link option personally, just so easy and configurable.

Sorry only got the one short clip of the engine bay at speed.
Initial out of the hole power is very good, just cavitates so cant apply full power anyway so impeller change needed to load it more. Gets on the plane with 14 people on board with ease.
It has replaced a 500ci mercruiser so bit better than that.

    Any luck with this?

A mate and I are trying to sort out a FG XR6T engine + ecu into a GQ patrol, having basically the same issue. Tried plugging in his NA ecu and it starts and revs (obviously not really well with the NA tune).

Turbo engine's into POOTROLS are a very well worn path

Why have you got the N/A ecu if you say you have the engine and ecu out of the FGT ?

Yeah there are a few around mainly BA engines tho.. its basically a stand alone setup anyway.

We have the right turbo ecu, but my mate also has a NA ecu with no security (FG engine in a NF Fairlane) so we tried that (because we know it works in his car) and it gets 100% throttle.

Get the turbo ecu into the GQ
Use this software to get it to work

Well you're doing it wrong hahaha

    Sorry had to

Start with the turbo ecu plum lover as the N/A one wont work unless you go a eboost and bugger all control of fueling

Yeah we get that hence wanting to get it sorted with the turbo ecu

What I don't understand is why would the NA ecu work fine yet the turbo does not. Any idea if the turbo ecu needs some extra magic or hardware input to make it work correctly?

Hopefully I'll get another chance to try a few things tomorrow.

What do you think a turbo ecu has that an N/A one doesn't ?

It has boost pressure input so it will need the turbo ecu and loom to work

Don't see what the trouble is then if you have calibrated the ecu correctly for a transplant

    I'm in Melbourne, se suburbs.

Yeah pretty sure the pats is correct, it will start and run ok but will only rev to 1500rpm or max 15% throttle. the TB operates fully with the engine off.

It has a few codes but nothing that really stands out to cause it.. one I'm unsure about is P1565.

    From the manual:
p1565 - Speed control command voltage to high
    Possible Causes:
Damaged or defective wiring and/or connections between speed control switches and PCM
    Defective speed control switch
    Defective PCM
    Diagnostic Procedures:
Check the condition of the wiring and connectors between speed control switches and PCM
Check for short circuits to VPWR or reference voltage supplies (particular attention should be given to the wiring around the steering column and connections to the steering wheel switches)
Ensure the speed control switches are not damaged.

Now if someone can give me a way of cutting from the PDF ford manual that would save me typing this stuff in.
