Did a FGF6 310 ute yesterday 2010 model zf auto

Mods

Plaz 800hp kit
4inch dump ( xforce )
Cat ( xforce )
3.5 xforce mild steel system
38mm port n flap job
New plugs
New paper element ( no holes in box )
New petrol filter

Went 330rwkw a few times but to lean even tho the customer was mustard for more so settled on 326rwkw at 13psi flat and 12.1 afr

what a great idea for a thread, I have just got my first dyno and loving it. I will have to put some of our cars we have been tuning up. How do you find tyres and strapping down the car plays an affect in power out put. I just tuned my ve ute and got 353hp and put new tyres on and lost 30hp and that's all I changed.

Yeh mate you will find very quickly that everything can effect readings and you will need to have a method to minimise the effects
I use a same/same method on every car so i can genuinely see how each vehicle can compare to each other and so on
Strapping is a big one
Ramp rates are another
Wheel diameter next
Start IAT's are key
CT is another

Its why sometimes i can take a while to start a run as i want each run to be as close to the previous so i can see the gain vs input and know its real

The orange ba sounds great. Are the camshafts worth the headache for the amount of gains? Does it allow you to make more power over 6000rpm?

As many know the camshafts are designed to lift peak power but in these cars I really don't see the need as they do everything best down low and the negative effects don't outweigh the pro's imho

Each to their own but I never have and never will suggest aftermarket cams for anything under that 600rwkw mark as factory FG gear can support that

Walbro intank fuel pump
Venom cat welded into standard exhaust
New spark plugs AGSP22YE07 0.7 gap
New genuine coils (old ones cracked)

Went 305rwkw at 14 psi falling to 12 psi up top and 0.8 Lambda

What holds something like that back from making more power, will it just ping with more boost?

I don't really know what the limiting factor is on these cars as it has lots of litres, big flowing turbo, aftermarket intercooler... hence the question.

even with a 4" dump though people seem to get in the ~320rwkw mark. With pump fuel is that around the limit before just get no power increase when adding boost or it starts knocking?

An engine works on the same principles as another i wont bother with the basics but we only limited the potential power generation of a falcon if it's either is really poor condition/high kms or a BA
The rest got tuned like any other car would ........

Right so people getting less power are most likely a result of the tuner restricting boost as they don't want an old motor going pop on their hands. What boost were those figures on btw?

The car I posted above was limited by the exhaust and the fact wastegate duty cycle was maxxing out. I've had had quite a few xr6's go 360 - 400rwkw.

I recently tuned an FG F6 that went 328rwkw with tune only. I did drill extra holes in the airbox. Here's a pic comparing the BF above to the tuned only Fg F6.
Very similar power everywhere, but the FG has a slightly heavier actuator and slightly better exhaust so the power continues to redline.

Zc347 you will find the actuator will be the issue on the b series as a stock item will struggle to hold +13psi up top
And a cat only b series exhaust can go 128mph so ~350+
