I'm after consistent low AIT's, say a few degrees above ambient temps, something the factory G6E Turbo intercooler won't provide, especially at higher boost levels. My 2010 FG F6 stock FMIC was peaking at 60 Deg C IAT's after 1-2 power runs on a 32 degree day. The PW unit I have increases 5-10 Deg F after a couple of WOT runs.
No doubt you can lean on the factory gear, I'm not interested in going down that path. I'll upgrade the dump/cat and turbo, injectors, install a surge tank and retune for 98 and E85. It makes what it makes.
It's good to see the various results being achieved, and the multiple tuning options available now.
Horses for courses but i feel there's always a good gain with stock hardware especially on E85, heard of someone going 11.0 with a FG F6 cooler also but the best we ever went was 11.6 on 98 and a total out lay of $1000 on a FG F6.... Should of gone E85 on it to see what it really could of done

I was SUPPOSED to tune a 2002 LS1 Camaro on Sunday BUT this idiot didnt have his knock sensors hooked up and his intake elbow was in 2 pieces. HAHA!

Iirc it was bought as a 2K stall when the C4 was last rebuilt but it's a bit higher now with the torque the engine produces

The two cars in question are so far apart combo wise it's incredibly hard to say what's what but here's a bit of a break down
Tranny choice is massive and as far as rwkw's go they stack like this ( IMHO )
for instance a car making 400 with the T6060 would then be say 300rwkw with a glide

Part of this is any old school auto box is coupled with a Hi stall converter then the typical efficiency of the old spec auto box is terrible ( ie big losses )
For instance back when i had a BA XR6T it made 327rwkw with the BTR stock and when i built the box i went a tight 2800 converter and the car would struggle to make 300 but went amazing at the track ( 11.86@120mph )
We see all types of effects on the dyno including simple stuff like wheel size , wouldn't think it does much but a 400rwkw ZF powered FG will pick up 20-30rwkw from going from a 20inch wheel to a 17inch wheel.
Dyno's arent all equal either and this is fairly elementary but just like tranny choice dyno's have there ups and downs
A Dynapak hub dyno will show about 30-40rwkw higher at around 400rwkw than a roller dyno
A mainline will show 20-25rwkw less than a DynoDynamics if the D/D is set up or opperator is "influencing" the outcome ( yes trust me a D/D can be fudged easily I've owned one )
A mainline is regarded "typically" as the most honest dyno out there
Next up is power delivery, how you want the "average power" to be tuned... Everyones heard of a dyno "queen" tune to just produce a number and yes you can have a crap tune with a high number just for the numbers sake ( not saying roumulus's is in fact it looks really good on paper there )
This car is set to go to the drags and needs to make use of it's set up and hopefully that means a blistering 660ft time hence how i tuned it ( hard n fast )
There's sooooo many factors with tuning and dynos and average power that you can see different dyno graphs and piece together so much about the car and tune from what's there printed, but this is why different workshops will be selective what they show on the graph ....
Not all is as it seems but the track never lies ( generally ) and this is where i only ever use the numbers as a gain guide not a how "sick" a car is as you will go crazy chasing numbers and at the expense of the poor vehicle at hand
I'm proud as punch to have some of the lowest rwkw dyno sheets but some of the fastest ET slips and that's how it really works
