    USB Cable Extensions

Just got my MPVI cable and there is no way I can use this with the cable lengths supplied. I need to use it on an elevated dyno with the cable running out the passenger side window and down to the floor level. What is the max USB extension cable length I can add. I'm looking at a 10 ft extension for $3.35, a 15 ft extension for $5.50 and a 5M Active extension cable for $28. The active cable has a built in buffer. At what length does a buffer become necessary?

The maximum length of the USB cable 2.0 spec is 15'.
You can use a powered repeater hub as long as it can provide a mimimum of 250ma power.

The MPVI interface requires 150ma and will switch over to vehicle side power if it's present, but the USB hub may get mad if it can't supply the needed current.
