Thread: Speed Density Patch applied, now what?

Speed Density Patch applied, now what?

I have been mainly MAF tuning Gen5 vehicles up to this point. Now that things have slowed down I am playing with SD on a 2015 yukon denali with a tvs2300 on 8lbs. It made 600torque and 560hp to the wheels on our dyno with the maf tune.

Once I have applied the OS patch and finished a write entire what do I need to do to ensure the truck is in SD? I tried unplugging the MAF but it seems there are quite a few other sensors tied into it (mainly baro which I need to tune SD) so I plugged it back in. Can I simply set the MAF fail hz to do it as in previous gens?

    Thanks in advance.

As long as the MAF has failed it should have no other choice that to use the SD calculation. I like to pull the MAF signal wire that way I know its dead. Set all the parameters need to have it fail quick and have at it. I have done a few GEN5's that I didn't as sometime watching MAF Hertz is a good tool.

On gen 4's you can log airflow calc mode and it will tell you what it's using for airflow calcs. I can only assume gen 5's are the same, but I'm not sure of it.

I figured it out, thank you for the advice. Drivability is way nicer in this truck now. Hauls ass too haha.

I looked for the airflow calcs PID but couldn't find it. The newer gen only has the essentials unlocked it seems.

What's the point of the SD patch? I tune SD just by failing the MAF. Has always worked fine.

The only patch I see for a 2015 Tahoe or Corvette is a traction control fix for when you're running SD

Yea I'm honestly not sure what exactly the patch was for. I read somewhere it had something to do with the way the transmission shifts?

So what? Nowhere in the thread has anyone said anything about either. There's just a bunch of "I don't know" going on and I know the descriptions seem obvious to some, but there are many who use this software for months and not realize there are descriptions at the bottom when you hover on a button. Didn't know if the OP noticed.

Thanks Electech, I did notice the descriptions.

Well, my original question was answered. For anyone else who may come into this thread you can fail the maf the same way you would on gen3/4.
