MVPI not working with laptops compusa brand PCMCIA USB card.

MVPI not working with laptops compusa brand PCMCIA USB card.

My 4 year old Toshiba's USB ports are wornout/messed-up, & you have to hold the USB plug in at an angle to make it work at all. I loaded the MPVI software/a&b drivers/'key' this way, & even did a 'read' of my PCM with this wornout Toshiba port.
So, I bought the compusa pcmcia 2-port USB card, loaded it's software, & my mini-usb storage devices love it. With device manager open I can see them fine, & they work fine. When I plug the MPVI in, nothing happens at all, except for the green power light coming on, on the MPVI box. Nothing shows up in device manager at all, when I plug the MPVI into the PCMCIA USB port ? If I try to scan/connect, error,NO OPEN COMM PORT. Do I have a IRQ problem, or some other software problem ? How would I know, or how can I tell, where would I look ? I don't know much about finding this type of problem ?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Honestly I have no clue on that one. You can try removing the MPVI drivers when it's plugged into the other usb port, then try the compusa PCMCIA port.

The MPVI reports that it needs 150ma to run. There could be an issue with that card ignoring our device if it cannot meet the power requirements.

    Ken,
    Thats what it was.
I just bought a Belkin PCMCIA 2 USB port card with an AC power adapter.
The MPVI needs that power adapter plugged into the PCMCIA card.
    Thanks,

The Adaptec 2-port USB with firewire ports PCMCIA card works without any need for external power adaptors. CompUSA carries this.

    Hmmm,
Maybe I'll try that card as it would mean one less power adapter in the car.
    Thanks,
