    nGauge feed back

Got this in the mail today. So far, I love it. Makes things much easier to monitor when running on the dyno. Show's more parameters on my 6.4 than a CTS2 did and some very vital parameters when tuning. Plus it's not quite as large. Just wish it had a back up camera. haha

No, i'm just doing the PSD's and with HP the only other thing we've been testing on is the 03-05 5.9's.

Can you tell me what all PIDs this unit can read? I'm trying to find a gauge/display to view the fuel rail pressure over OBD. I believe the Spartan can do it, so I'm sure it's possible, although the CTS2 I've been considering can not read it over OBD.

Finally got around to joining the forum.
I'm handling the distribution and support of the HP Tuners nGauge.
Let me know if you need anything, including the latest firmware.

Do you have a list of PIDs this can read on the 6.4?
Is it ready to go out of the box, or does it need special firmware/software for the 6.4?
Is the EGT reading accurate, or would a pyrometer be needed and hooked up to the analog input port? To the best of my understanding, the 6.4 has one EGT sensor pre-turbo (in the passenger side up pipe) and at least 3 post turbo)
How easy is it to daisy chain them together?

Let me know if you would rather have me call.
Thanks a lot for any help you may have.

It's ready to go out of the box. Number of PIDs really varies by application and I haven't had my hands on one in a powerstroke yet.
The latest beta firmware is 175, just shoot me an email if you want it.
Here is how you update the firmware: Updating The HP Tuners nGauge Firmware

It's going to be as accurate as the factory EGT PID. You might want to ask someone like Cody if that is enough, but the analog input can always be used with an aftermarket pyrometer.

Daisy chaining is no longer supported.

I received the nGauge yesterday, updated it to the latest firmware that Jim gave me, then plugged it into the truck. It read the truck (I'd say took about 10-15 minutes) then it scanned the truck for PIDs. The gauge said it saw about 52 parameters. I compiles a list of available PIDs with the 175 firmware that I'll post in a follow-up post. Definitely reads a lot more then the Edge I had been considering purchasing.

The gauge is easy to use, not much of a learning curve, but it does take a while to set everything up and to scroll through all the lists. The resistive touch screen is not like your cell phone screen, it's best to use the included stylus or the corner of your fingernail to do anything on it. I'm still in the process of setting up the display to my preference, but so far I'm really liking it. I set the warning lights for boost, so I know when I should start letting up a little (stock head bolts tend to give a little around 50psi on these diesels, I've been told)

I could not read any pre-turbo exhaust temperature, I am going to contact Emotion to see if they can update the firmware. I can read the other three temp sensors, but I have all them disconnected. Boost & fuel rail pressure reading was very quick to display, to lag that I could tell.

Let me know if you have any questions about this gauge on a 6.4, I'll see what I can do to help you out. Jim is very knowledgeable on the gauge, but I don't think he has a PSD to try it on yet. I may also be able to answer questions about it on a 6.0. I didn't plug into a 6.0 yet, but I could possibly.

I wish these n gauges and n dashes were lower cost. They seem bad ass. also i was wondering so you must still have to buy 2 credits to tune it plus the ngauge is cool. can it pull tunes? also is there a way to change vin numbers on files so that shipping tunes with ngauge would be easyier?

I wouldn't necessarily say they are higher price then a competitive product. Edge CTS2 is similar priced (maybe a little less) but can't read near the PIDs that this can. Plus, I like the relatively small profile. You don't need any credits just to use this as a gauge, but if you want to tune the vehicle, yes, you do need credits to write the tune.
The NGauge can not (to my knowledge, pull tunes) It must read stock tune when you first read the vehicle, but other then that, I don't think it can read tunes. I already had a custom tune on my truck when I installed the NGauge, because of that, my 'stock' tune is actually a custom tune.
Maybe someone else will chime in about changing the VIN number on a tune file.

Thank you it would be cool if you could change vin on tune file to ship tunes with the ngauge...
