I can delete SKIM on the older PCMs now. Unfortunately, it wasn't HP tuners that made it possible. And it cost me about 2 grand to make it possible :-(

I should be able to delete SKIM on all those older 3-connector Dodge PCMs, probably from the 96-04ish era.

Buy a DRBIII? I've been thinking of doing so myself..

No, but that would probably work too.

Please explain how you would use the DRB 3 to disable SKIM. I only find the options in my DRB to enable SKIM, AFAIK there is no way to disable once enabled through factory chrysler tools.

Does DRB have the ability to reset SKIM? And to change VIN?

There is a "reset skim" procedure but it does not wipe the VIN, i.e. no noticeable effects. The DRB can program VIN into a SKIM or PCM module but only new ones, once a VIN is programmed you can view it but not change it. I've never been able to enter the VIN via DRB anyway because normally you use the "PCM Replaced" or "SKIM Replaced" functions and it copies the VIN from either the PCM or SKIM, whichever was not replaced. I used my HP Tuners software today on a 99 XJ to disable SKIM in the PCM and it worked. But I unplugged the SKIM module before I flashed the PCM with the tune.

I believe it's necessary to reset SKIM and reset the VIN, then unplug the SKIM module before powering up the PCM. I'm surprised to hear that HPT worked on the 99 XJ. I was under the impression that HPT never worked.

Yeah skyed isn?t able to delete skim with Dodge tried him recently. The crate engine pcm works great just hot wire to starter (two wires). Works in 2015+ models with no repinning needed.

I have found that the settings in HPT don't seem to do anything for Canada/USA programmed PCMs, but does have an effect when Euro programming is used.

    Hi,

I posted in Engine/Gas section (title : "Challenger 3.5 stopped and never restart, no DTC on VCM, SKIM or key issue ?", but perhaps better here, as it can be SKIM related

Firstaval, i'm in Europe, so, not able to went to dealer, as there is no mopar dealer here.

A friend of mine have a dodge Challenger 2009 3.5,
engine stopped in september, when driving,
he find a garage sp?cialised in US Car, but choose the wrong one (knowed to be one of the worth of the area, lie, expensive, bad work...),
the garage... done what is done (perhaps nothing, despite asking large bill and, as i see when i see the car this saturday, unplug a air tube, and also the air temp sensor....).

So, all i'm sure is just this, cause i tested and see result :

    1. all air stuff seems to be right now (i replug all)

    2. the car don't start (good voltage, battery, and test with a voltage donner car, 12.35V as i log on VCM)

    3. the fuel came (unpung a spark too see if it's wet or not)

    4. no spark (not au all)

    5. VCM can communicate (no issue)

    6. no DTC code (from VCM, tested when engine was stopped, and tested when engine was in startering action)

    7. PCM was swapped with a good one (had tested original and the swapped, good VIN when VCM reading, and download all the tune of the swapped one)

    8. not sure about the process to swap one, so perhaps the SKIM/WIN is entering in theif mode

    9. friend have just one key, only one

    10. VCM SKIM data are (whatever the PCM tested) :

    SKIM STATUS: unknown: 01 11
    SKIM/VTA Status : SKIM Learned
SKIM/VTA Status RAM : SKIM Learn... (..."ed in RAM" i remerber)

    11. SKIM part in the tune seem to be ok in VCM, exact same as the Dodge Challenger 2007 3.5 find in HPT repository

    SKIM : Disable
    SKIM Capable : Enable

    12. FYI, i use a end 2020 version of PCM, not the lastest of 2021, but not an old one

I readed SKIM is not yet usable with VCM, perhaps just testing since one or two years
I readed a ton of "dodge not start" related to SKIM/WIN
But cannot find the best route to fix that

I cannot fix that situation with VCM i presume ? (does exist a beta to test ?)
It this normal i can't see any DTC in VCM ? (i read about WIN process, and "B1A29-Skim Basestation Mismatch", but i don't see the B1A29 in DTC)
Can it be a SKIM issue ?
    Or a WIN issue ?
    Or a KEY issue ?
How can i diag this to be 100% sure ? (i read about WiTech stuff, but what is this ? price ? licence or other ?)
And what i have to ask him to buy and how can i do to fix this ???

    Best regard

There is confusion on how to write the VIN with the DRB3 on a used PCM (I do them all the time).

    1. Ensure communication with the PCM.
    2. Select "Engine"
    3. Select "Miscellaneous"
    4. Go to "Check VIN" (Enter)
    5. Then select "Page FWD"
    6. Now you can edit the VIN.

    Hope this helps someone.

It will never work and HPT doesn't care.

They also will not refund you.

Since I'm retarded and dont know how to sub to a post, I'm subbing by commenting. Would love to see JTEC and JTEC+ skim workarounds.

What did you use to disable the SKIM? I have a TJ in the shop at the moment with SKIM problem. I have a DRB 3 and also CDA. We are based in South Africa

If in doubt, multiply everything by 1.1.

so is it safe to say that HPT still doesn't support SKIM delete for 2001 JTEC+ Jeep ecm's?
