    Can someone help me setup a 3.0 E38 SD/VE.

Im about to tune a 2012 GS with an A&A YSI and SD. Having trouble with this new setup as all of my old histograms don't work.

Once again, post the log and your graph/Chart files or screen shots and we will help. When importing 2.24 Histo's there may be some "cleanup/finishing " to get the to work.

I don't have any yet. I have never done VE SD on an E38 before. Only on the LS1/LS2 cars.

So the initial part is the same as far as enabling speed density (DTC and MAF Hi fail). Because there is no VE table per say from 2006 and up we use the Virtual Volumetric Efficiency coefficient generator located in the EDIT tab. This will open what appears to be a conventional VE table. In VE mode window, select Manifold Switch Open.

Click on the left side words MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSUE (kPa) and select the map range (either NA 10-105, 2 bar 10-210 kPa or 3 Bar 10-315 kPa). You can do the same for the upper ENGINE SPEED (RPM) if you would like to change the range or spacing. These values will become the ones you use in your graph.

Now we will set up a Graph (Histogram) that we can use to log the error (same one you used for MAF) vs RPM and MAP. The Graph Row/Column values will be copied from this VE table and pasted into the graph. Just put the cursor in the row or column, right click, go to either the row or column and click COPY LABLEs..paste this value into the graph value box and select the appropriate parameter.

The rest is basically the same as Gen III where you log the error against the RPM/MAP and use it to correct the VE table. Smoothing, interpolating etc will be the same. Once you have preformed a correction (Mult %) then you need to hit VIRTUAL VE -> COEFFICIENT button to Calculate new Coefficients. They will automatically be written into the tune file and you can see the differences in the Speed Density tab. Watch where the zones meet because some times the calculator gets a bit error prone and you need to manually intervene of change the zone boundaries. There is a button labeled SHOW ZONE NUMBERS so you can see where the zones overlay.

Sounds good to me! One thing ive noticed is, when I set the E38 to 2bar OS, I lose virtual VE and instead under Airflow-General-Main VE, a few blank VE tables open up. Is that where the new table will be located?

Yes if you go custom OS, the VE table is placed back onto the Airflow page. No VVE used in that case. So that table is where you get the RPM and Axis values, not the VVE. Also the axis are swapped. You can still click on the axis names and change the values/spacing. To pre-populate the VE tables copy the 10 - 105 kpa values from the stock VVE table, copy the 105 column, paste in 175 column, multiply column by 1.4 then interpolate a cross from the 105 column to the 175 column.

Again use the OPen manifold table, but to make sure, make all 3 tables the same...:-)

Do I use the open or closed, or should I just make them both the same?

This is a very rough first draft for a start up tune. Car is 12 GS Vette, 408 stoker, 83# return fuel system, LSA heads, 227/242 cam, YSI-18psi, Zr1 map sensor. I just set the dynamic airflow to SD as I forgot to when initially posting the tune.

Make them the same to be sure. After you calculate coefficients on the first one, select the whole table and copy it, change to the other (open or closed), paste the whole table and hit calculate coefficients again so that they are exactly the same.

I'm going to do a how to (maybe even a video) of how to get basic charts setup for VVE and MAF tuning with V3 in the next day or two. I'm hoping that helps point everyone in the right direction with the new scanner.

I would be interested in that. The VVE tuning has been a rough learning curve.

I set up the histograms already. That wasnt hard. I was looking for more of a how to on the actual VVE tuning. Like where you mentioned select manifold switch open. Then select a map range. I dont even see that on my vve editor (the range). Are there any how to on using the editor page and zoning map boundaries? Thanks for your help!!

Not sure what you're asking. In the DIY I did it shows you how to set the MAP and RPM axis to whatever you'd like them to be (and HPT includes a few sets of defaults that work for most people).

The "select manifold switch open" is on the left side of the VVE editor under where it says "VE Mode". You generally want to make the manifold switch closed and manifold switch open tables the same.
