Speed won't show in scanner since update of firmware in Dongle and update to 3.0.

Hi all I am only new to HP and have just updated to 3.0 from 2.xx... the scanner was working great until the upgrade and now won't show speedo from a 6l80...was working fine beforehand and no other changes have been made,

The dongle wanted to update firmware upon first use after the software update could it be that it needs the driver installed again?? I'm a bit lost, any help would be appreciated.
