    Race Render no sound -

    Hi,

    Help please.

Longtime Racerender user, new (different) racetrack laptop on windows 7. HP Laptop.

No sound using MOV files as input, converted MOV file to MP4 with VLC Media Player.

Sound plays on MOV file and new MP4 file with VLC media player.

No sound in preview pane, no sound on short rendered vid clip. No mute buttons hit. audio level settings in input file config screen and video object properties screen 100.

Quicktime 7 is not supported and says don't install now.

Figuring converting format would have done it.

    Ideas?

We have years of race vids saved in MOV. Using mobius cameras now and could save them in MP4, but files seem larger. Is there an advantage?

    Thanks,
    Kyle

The no-sound issue sometimes happens with Windows 7 because its version of Microsoft's Media Foundation does not support certain audio codecs. The solutions to this problem have been to either have QuickTime installed, so that RaceRender can use its decoders (use the 32-bit version of RaceRender for this), or to use Windows 8 or 10 which come with much improved media capabilities built-in. Windows 8 and newer also solve a number of other media input and output limitations that you could run into on Windows 7, and Windows 10 adds even more capability.

As you noted, Apple has recently stopped supporting QuickTime for Windows, so it may not be advisable to continue using it. At this point, I'd steer most users to Windows 10 64-bit for the best capabilities and experience.
