I'm new to this HP tuners stuff but have been working with aftermarket management for some time. I picked up a HPT Pro and had played around with a demo file prior to trying to program. A common practice I'm sure. Once I was confident enough to try it out, I brought the laptop to the car, plugged it into the com port and opened up VCM editor. Little did I know the file that I was playing with previously was loaded. By default I assume. When the message popped up to license the vehicle I said ok thinking I was using the credits on the vehicle I was plugged into. 2 credits were used. The vehicle was the same make and model but a 1 year off. My bad for overlooking. When the message popped up it looked like my vehicle. When I read the cars vcm I could not edit the file. I'm thinking what the heck. Thats when I figured out I just flushes 2 credits down the toilet.
To my disappointment HPT will not recover the credits. I can see a issues with customer satisfaction on these types of issues. Being a business owner myself I take a bath on a lot of things to help and be fair to customers. Specially ones I need to come back and spend money. Wouldn't even meet halfway. Basically I was told in a nice way to bite down hard.
Newbies make mistakes. Thats always going to happen. Give a guy a break and at least meet halfway. That would be the least I would do for someone.
