was wondering if someone has a base tune for this cam. car wont run on stock tune. thanks.

it should start and run with throttle input, if it doesn't I would look for mechanical issue
the last few cams I got from comp from the hemis, they changed the cam core, and was actually not allowing the valves to close fully. Double check pushrod length!!!!!

That is also a fairly large cam for a 5.7. Is the car stock otherwise?
Not saying it can't be done, just not the easiest.
yea, i was told that it could be tuned with just the cam. I was also told that with the stock tune wouldnt work cause the car would dump fuel and stall. however, its a police package car, do you think that the police tune might be able to run it?
Oh, and as for the pushrod length, the VVT motor doesnt require to change pushrods. Only the non VVT rods need to be different
that has been the "word" on the street, however the last few I have done, the pushrods ended up being too long, and holding valve open. I have used that cam in the past, and yes, the it would start and run with throttle input, will it run good, no thats why we tune. My point is, if it doesn't start and run with throttle input, then there "IS" a mechanical issue, otherwise, there would be no way to tune it, without it running. Never assume the pushrods are correct because the forums said so.

Does the motor crank with throttle? If yes then add to your start up airflow and/or decrease your start up pulse width.
Log your fuel trims when at idle and post back with the % trims. I've seen adding the 274 cam in some cases pulls fuel trims down to -35%. You can either adjust your fuel injector values to get them inline or adjust your VE tables once your idling.

I havent got the motor built yet, ive been playing catch up at work and plan to start on it next week. ill keep everything thats been said in mind and let you know what happens.
If you don't even have the camshaft in the car already, why did you say thiscar wont run on stock tune
thats the reasoning for my posts, i took it as after install car wouldn't start
never had an issue with this cam and tuning
it will start, may take some throttle input, then start tuning.

it needs a major tune to get it to work. you will also loose alot of low end torque

Major for a complete newb but certainly a 5min affair for a moderate tuner.
Disable VVT
Add 10% to startup airflow
Cut VE by 5% in idle area
Flatline first 4 columns of PT Base timing to 14*
Set any negative values in Min Spark timing to +5*
Set Torque Delta and Torque Delta Faults to max
Max out P2174, P2172, P2173, P2175 fault values.
Set FA ratio to 12.0 AFR to start
If no start, set Temporarily the 60 count and above Startup Airflow Mult to 4.0, log airflow after startup, once established the proper airflow at fire up, return this table to stock and fix your startup airflow to be closer to whats logged.
Monitor fuel trims, adjust VE.
Took me longer to type than would to change.
disable ANN/neural network
with that cam his injector pulsewidth will be all over the place and would need to rescale

Ill try it with the stock tune. If it wont idle on its own then ill load up the parameters that SRT8 posted and go from there. Im pulling it in monday so hopefully i can post results by saturday afternoon.
ok, got the motor put back together and running. no codes and it idles down ok(you can tell its trying to die but it never does). it took reverse fine but when i put it in drive it wouldnt take gear and slowly died out. Any ideas if this is a tuning issue or something else in the car? Thanks.
Also, this is on stock tune.

ok, my shift cable adjustment came loose and fixing that solved my problems. i took it for a test drive and WOT does great, but its running lean at cruise and my LT fuel trims are gettting high. Do i need to add fuel or decrease my airflow?
Add fuel, cant really decrease airflow without also decreasing fuel,
Subscribed... Good thread!
Ok, i believe ive figured out what variables i need to change to stable things out. My issue is this is my first time tuning a dodge and im slightly confused about the layout of the tuner. im gonna post my log files and see what you guys think.
1. im not sure if im needing to add air to take away fuel at idle. i can create a small vacuum leak and it will idle without dying and will take gear without dying.
2. I believe im running dangerously lean at cruise. If i did my figuring right then either my InjPW or map values need to be increased by 41.8%
3. WOT appears stable for now.
If im wrong in my numbers, let me know. And if someone could show me where to adjust these values, it would be highly appreciated.
Sorry, for all of the questions. im very new to this but im trying to learn as much as i can.
