2015 Mustang GT W/Whipple Auto activate limp mode

    Hello.
A guy has this new Mustang and bought a kit from Whipple. Sent the ECM to Whipple. Car also has long tube headers with hi flow cats. Otherwise it's bone stock.
    2015 Mustang GT Convertible Automatic.
Car run's great, but sometimes when he does spirited driving,it goes to limp mode. He resets the ECM. Good to go for a bit.
Some are saying it needs some transmission adjustments. Nobody in this area does Ford's. He kinda asked me for help. I don't know much about Ford tuning myself.
Wondering if anybody did a 2015 5.0L Whipple Auto allready. He did go to a Ford tuning shop that is over 10 hour drive away 2-3 times. But they haven't cured the issue.
    Thanks in advance

Need to provide the current tune for anyone to really try and help. A datalog of the problem would be helpful as well.

That has to do with your own application key. Request a new one from your account portal and update it in the program.

Getting back to topic I'm almost willing to bet that Whipple locked their file.

if your switching between versions that will cause it. whatever version your using apply the latest application key.

or at least gather info so you can know the strategy

Whipple encrypts their files. If this car has the big throttle body on it don't even bother. It's a lot more work on the 15's to get it to work right. I just did a roush car with the gt500 tb and it was a PITA.

A locked calibration wouldn't prevent logging would it? You should be able to log and find what's causing the limp mode, as long as you have the correct parameters logged.

P.S. I've been able to read files that the tuners said were locked and even the dealership couldn't see the ECU.

It's not locked, it's encrypted. You may be able to log a few parameters but more than likely very few will be mapped since it probably has a whipple specific calibration.

The only way to tune these and the roush's is to full flash and start over but you better know what you are doing because the throttle body tuning on the 15's takes a bunch of work. HPT doesn't even have all of the parameters mapped yet to tune them

This is discouraging. I have a 15 with a Whipple and wanted to play around with it.

If you have a stock tb it's pretty easy to tune. The big monoblade cars are a pain.

I have the big 132mm TB. I had assumed since it uses the same motor and gear that it'd be similar.

Have you by chance read/seen the methodology outlined by The Tuning School for Ford TB's? I'm curious your thoughts on whether or not how close their process would get this TB close?
