    14 challenger MDS delete.

My uncle has a 14 challenger with the 5.7l hemi. Its got a summit exhaust and the drone is unbearable from the mds. I've gone into the mds tab and turned everything off. It still comes on. I've tried neural network off and it still doesn't seem to do anything. Any suggestions before I start going nuts.

    Wow,

So you went to the table below and chose disabled and it still comes on? Maybe its another source of drone?
Confirm the file is being saved.
Try enabling it and raising the minimum to 40mph. It should disable it if its like my 13 Charger R/T.

I have played with this a bunch because my Corsa exhaust has a light hum (not really a drone) at low speeds. I tried to raise the speed to 40mph minimum and it will not cooperate.
I worked with HPT support and they looked into it and even provided a beta with more parameters to let me have at it but they later let me know they found MOPAR has the range locked.

So I kept bumping it around and found the working minimum is 20mph. Then later I spoke with a RAM owner that had larger tires installed the the 9mph minimum made lugging these larger tires at low speeds rough going.
He went to the dealership the the tech said a 20mph minimum is all he could raise it.

If indeed he can bite the bullet he can go with a Corsa. The MDS hum is so faint I rarely notice it anymore (maybe with the radio off I might hear it) and on my car it saves a lot of gas for me.

Yep. That is turned off in the tune and it still drones. You can tell when it kicks to mds. It just for some reason will not disable.

Try enabling and raising the minimum(s) to 40MPH and see. Heck it may be a HPT bug. Notify support.

Very Odd. What version on HPT are you using?

Do you save your versions. I do. the next thing I would do in trouble shooting this is to back up a few versions to make sure its not the software?
I always rename a current version by adding its version number to the name before downloading a new version.

    I'm not following you.
Rolled back to a previous version of HPT?

"Rebuilt off the original pull from the pcm now works fine....." I don't understand.

I rolled back the software to a previous version. Then tried to modify a saved tune I made. Then after that didn't work used the original flash I pulled and redid everything with the older version of hpt and redid everything and shut it off and now it works like I want it to.

    I see, thanks.

Well if you get the time save the current tune to the side and redo it with the current version like you had to with the older one and if it fails let HPT know. Odds are you had a dirty little flash or fat finger some place.
    What exhaust did he get?

It's the one from summit racing. The house brand one. It sounds pretty good aside from the mds drone.

I tried the 40mph thing and it didn't work, sorry for not updating, any of the versions I use are the same.

HPT support informed me Mopar has the MDS locked down and a dealership tech and/or HPT can raise the minimum to 20mph, and this is because of the trucks complaining after putting large tires & wheels on. It lugs too much. Thats how mine is set and working fine.

Corsa has it down pat for cabin noise suppression. My R/T has only a very slight hum at lower cruising speeds on MDS. And MDS saves fuel for me, I would not want to delete it. I can cruise @100mph on slight interstate inclines on MDS! The best savings are from 45-70mph.

Maybe get with support again? Its been a long time since the told me of the lock. They can unlock a newer PCM/ECM why not this? I would enjoy a 40mph minimum as this is when the hum is most noticable, but its more than tolerable. I actually like knowing when its on this way, and passengers never comment or ask whats that?
