    Speed density - tuning VEs

i've been slowly getting my VEs in line (i think) using my wideband and HPT. i noticed that my stock tune had a fairly nice, smooth VE but when i'm trying to dial in 14.7 in all my cells the closer i get the choppier my VEs look. is smoothness or acuracy more important? are resonance in my changed intake and headers to blame making certain RPMs and MAPs more pronounced? also my LTFTs are turned off and i set my ECT vs IAT to 284* to force open loop, do i turn off my STFTs also when logging?

I wouldn't worry about it...the PCM interpolates anyhow. Mine does the exact same thing...different RPMs and MAPs are more pronounced.

also..its not necessary to have a perfectly smooth VE...
Just dont have any major spikes in it..like if a set of cells goes 70-72-75-99-80...then the 99 is probably not correct

you can look at some later years of GM's ve tables and see that they no longer shoot for smooth either...

I'm definitely beyond making mine smooth...engines don't exactly behave like we'd expect, and that's good enough to set my mind at ease.

Mine too. Mine are perfect as far as I can tell (VE wise) but not smooth looking like stock. I was tempted to smooth them but I'm glad I didn't now.
