    BCM Programing

I would like to know if we have any control over BCM controls. I am looking into adding Hands Free operation to my factory radio with a
factory kit. It requires that the vehicle be taken to the dealership to turn on function. I can do all the install work myself and would hate to have to bring it to the dealer.

hptuners will not do it, however any shop that does factory programming can. It requires a j2534 compliant tool.

That would be a parameter change in the TIPM

Any reason why you'd hate to bring it to the people that built your vehicle and have a better working knowledge of it than anyone else on the planet? You'd probably be in and out in 1/2 an hour with a nominal fee.

If you've upgraded your radio, for example, then you need to have the appropriate steering wheel controls to support the hands free, as well as the mic, interface and other peripherals. These need to be "allowed" in the vehicle system by enabling the option, if available, in the vehicle's database stored in Chrysler's servers. Once the VIN file is updated the new vehicle configuration has to be downloaded to all the pertinent modules in the vehicle via witech.

Good luck finding someone who can do this outside of a dealership for the same money.

Unfortunatelly, not all dealers and all independents fit these certain molds. Here we get tons of customers coming to us to enable certain features that the dealer couldn't figure out how to. More often than not customers are told, if it didn't come with a feature you cannot get it. Call it poor dealer training or whatever, but this happens all too often. Most independents who are competent in this area would actually charge less than a dealer
