    vats delete 2015 l83 swap

Tryin to tune my buddy l83 swapped c10. We cant get it to fire up. Its got fuel and turns over just want crank. Starts on starting fluid only. I disabled vats but read that only the 2014 os can completely disable them. His has one vats disable table and they have 2 tables. Could this be the issue?

I tried matching his os to a 2014 os and couldnt find one in the tune repository to match. Do i basicly look for the same os as his and do a engine segment swap correct? If i cant match one do i need to email support? Thanks in advance guys.

    OS/ VATS Patch 1 & System/ general tab.
These are the two places VATS resides on my 2015 OS, no problems using HPT to disable them.

Make sure you have the latest HPT.

Yea he has a 2016 ecm. I disabled it and did a rewrite entire. Still no luck. Its killing injectors. Like i said it will crank on starting fluid so it has a spark. Doesnt vats disable the injectors?

O yea im running the new hpt 3.0 as well. Thanks.

DTC's provide any clue (disable any U codes in your tune)?

Are you building high pressure fuel pressure? (log fuel rail pressure (sae) while cranking)

Got it started. Had to disable starter and clutch tables. Fired right up. How much fuel pressure does it need? I think my inline pump is set at 50 base right now.

If not using the fuel pump control module, GM says 72psi.

Google 19303139. This is for the LT1 controller kit, below is the exert that talks about fuel pressure. I ended up just running the fpcm.

This control system is intended for use with a returnless fuel system and fuel pump that is capable of being pulse width modulated (PWM) at 25 kHz to control fuel pressure. A fuel flow rate of 45 gph at 72 psi (500 kPa) is needed. Because this is a dead headed system, a pressure relief set at 84 psi (580 kPa) must be included in the fuel line between the tank pump and the engine mounted high pressure pump. Part number 22966044 is one example of a compatible pump and it includes an integral pressure relief system. A pump with excessive capacity may result in cavitation at low flow due to the pump repeatedly stopping and starting instead of controlling to a speed/pressure. Alternatively, a fuel system operating at a fixed 72 psi (500 kPa) could be used and a fuel pump relay may be triggered by the Green/Gray wire in cavity 2 of the Fuel Pump Power Module (FPPM). Note that excessive fuel heating and potential startability/drivability issues may result from a constant high pressure

Well we set it to 70psi base but on start up while running the pressure gauge pegs out over 100psi. We think thats maybe bc of the lift pump kicking the pressure higher. Thoughts?

I'm gonna guess that's where that 84psi relief valve comes into play.

Not sure, I changed directions on my fuel system when the old standby walbro 255 and vette fpr didn't look like it was gonna cut it.

Yea where running a inline bosch 044 with aeromotive regulater and return back to tank. We gonna give it another try tomorrow. When we got this engine we got the fans as well but they want turn on. Where running a homemade relay setup to power them but no fan power. They have a third wire that was purple in the factory pigtail. What wire could that be for? We tried power and ground to it and nothing. Geuss well pull some ls1 fans and install them instead.

I would think that would work for the fuel system.

The third wire for the fans is the PWM control. It originates at X1-59 at the pcm, then goes to X105. X105 connects to the forward light harness. It should end up on pin 4 of the fan plugs. Depending on how much of your engine harness is still intact, you should have X105 still there.

Trying to attach a connector end view of it.

If it isn't there, X1-59 on the pcm to pin 4 on the fans should get you there.

Of course, this is the factory control method where the power is on pin 2 of the fan plugs, and should be battery +, not switched by a relay.

You just need to supply at least 57 psi to the engine.
We have a swap with over a 1000 miles on it and it runs perfect. We have done 2 6.2 86 swaps. The computers love to go in reduced power mode if the network is not correct. I think your problem lies in your ecu. I am working on a 5.3 swap as well and the computer is giving me issues. I out a different ecu with another os and it worked fine. You can email me at [email protected] and I will help you out.

We got it figured out. Had to disable starter diagnosis and clutch diagnosis table.

Seems to be running fine at 70psi base. We ditched the factory fans and installed some 05+ set.

Brandonleg, I see you have an 86 K10 with L86/8L90/NP205. I am putting this same combination in my 1971 Chevrolet K10 Suburban. May I ask what you did for an adapter from the 8L90 to NP205?
    Thanks in advance!

    Tommy,

I am not sure exactly what he used, but Advanced Adapters has one for that combo:
    http://www.advanceadapters.com/produ...ransfer-cases/

The name says 4l80, but the applications fit a 6l80/90 (had to edit, linked Ford case the first time)

    Mike,
I checked Advanced Adapters website and didn't see anything so I called them. Per Advanced Adapters they do not have an adapter for the 8L90 to NP205. I've called quite a few adapter companies and so far have nothing. Hence the reason I was reaching out to BrandonLeg. From what I understand, since I can't find any information on the tail shaft of the 8L90, the 6L80/6L90 and the 8L90 are completely different. I won't know till my transmission shows up sometime this week.

I also contacted Advance Adapters, and they said "it won't work with an 8L90," but from everything I've read, the spline count on the 8L90 and 6L80 should be the same. Did you ever find out if the 6L80 adapter will work?
