1998 L31 vortec 350 looking for nice performing mild camshaft that is tunable

    Have a 1998 L31 in a K1500 pickup - 4L60e with 3.73 gears

buttoning up the motor after a rebuild - 9.1-9.4 compression depending on head gasket and I have the Alex Parts spring kit which will alllow the vortec heads to accept .530 lift

    QUESTION: 1) considering a CAM change over the stock L31 191/196 414/428 on 111 LSA to perhaps 1) Delta Cams 203/203 450 450 on 112 LSA or 2) a Comp 08-500-8 206-212 480 / 488 on 112

    2) I have the 4 connector black computer which is HPtuner-able -

How tunable is this motor ? I dont want to get into issues of a sub par motor because I have a flip phone ECM in a smart phone ECM world

Any ideas would be appreciated - also would appreciate any tune files for 1998 L31 with smallish RV cams

    thanks

    I built a 383 and copied gm performance ht383E.

And i put that same cam in a vortec 350 but I have not ran either yet.

So you might take a look at that cam.
The gm performance ht383E is rated at 323 horse and 444 ftlbs torque

And you can swap to the 411 pcm fairly easy.
There is a guy that goes by Lextech on many forums that will sell you info on how to do it for 20 bucks. Its pretty good info I bought it and done it already.

Use fel pro 1094 gaskets depending on piston depth. 0411 swap is the ticket. Bigger cam more stall even with 4wd. get rid of the stock intake manifold they suck these are my opinions.

Back to the bigger cam More lift if you have the springs setup to handle it. Don't be afraid of a cam with @.050 numbers in the 220-228 range run atleast a 3k stall of your choice.

Comp 787 retainers & ls6 springs with new seals. My stock 906 heads shortest retainer to guide average clearance between both heads was @ .568"

I've been running this setup for almost 60,000 miles. For what it's worth....
