0411 swap HPT CASE relearn not working

Hello guys, firstly, I have a 1996 GMC K1500 with a lot of upgrades which includes HT383e, swapped stock ECM to 0411 (out of a 2002 GM express van), upgraded transmission, 6" lift, steering, suspension, interior....blah, blah, blah,...everything from the brakes up through steering wheel is all brand new (yeah, I spent sum bucks/and a year of my time),.....hell, the frames even been grinded down and repainted throughout.

I'm in the final throws of passion,...truck runs like a dog "sneakily" shot in the ass with a Daisy one-pump bbgun (it's quick). I just bought HPTuners and going through it. Just dialed my dizzy into final alignment within +/-2 degrees (HPTuners made that easy), which cleared my P1345 DTC.

My problem is that CASE relearn (crankshaft sensor relearn) throwing the P1336 code. I did it exactly like the "help" section and,...read just about every chat on here concerning this relearn procedure.

Both brakes pressed, start engine, then when I get to the step "click relearn" - I do - then rev engine up to over 5K (till my rev limiter cuts fuel at 5,200 - high torque truck - not high RPM/horsepower driven). Step off pedal and comes back to an idle - shut truck off for at least 15 seconds. The whole time,...nothing happens on the HPTuners screen. Is there supposed to be a screen that says "your good, or, your done" or something/anything?

I've done the crank relearn procedure at least 8 times and every time it's the exact same thing. Figured I better check here before I break something. And, code P1336 never goes away (I check it after each procedure).

If you have all the conditions correct (coolant temp, brake pedal, e-brake, etc...), press the learn button and rev up the rpm so that you complete the process in about 3 seconds.

I think the learn is timing out too fast, before people have completed the rpm ramp up.

The issue with most swaps is that all of the appropriate inputs are usually not wired in, usually the brake inputs, so the ECU never satisfies the conditions to run the test.

A few issues I have seen. 1 swapped vehicles not having the correct sensors wired in, ie brake pedal, or park brake pedal. 2. Not reading the proper procedure for your vehicle. If your running an 02 camaro os, use the procedure for that. No they are not all the same. Some require brake pedal input, some say specifically not to press brake pedal. 3, revving slow is a no no. Gm engineering specifically says to snap the throttle to the rev limit, which on a v8 should be 4000, if it hasn't been altered. Mash it to the floor very quickly after hitting the button. Don't hold the pedal down, you should feel it hit the limiter, then release the pedal.

coolant temp must be above 170*F. like keith said if all the conditions are met there will be no issue. just dont be lingering after you click the case relearn. what i usually do is all but stomp the pedal to the floor and wait for a fuel cut off at 4000-4500rpm.

in 2.XX you had to select "Metric" system units instead of "Imperial" for CASE Learn to work, not sure if 3.XX is the same

Success on the ol' 1996 K1500!!! Went out today and did the CASE relearn on the new 0411 ECM upgrade. Worked first time I tried it.

Originally, I plugged-in HPTuners interface cable/ connected to vehicle at the very beginneing (before step 1) of the CASE relearn help page process.

The only difference I did from the other day was; I plugged the HPTuners interface cable into the truck OBD2 between line items 6 (press main brake pedal) and 7 (start the engine) (-from the help page-), then, opened the scanner and then opened the CASE relearn page,....hit the tab and romped the gas.

When it didn't work the first 8 times the other day,....I'm thinking I was loosing connection with the vehicle in step 4 (turn the vehicle off),.....maybe, don't know

Anyway, I found it worked if I plugged HPTuners into the truck/connected between steps 6 and 7 of the help page. Drove for 1/2 hour and the code never showed up again and the DTC list stayed clear.

Put a big grin on the old mug, it did.
