updating vcm suite 2.24 to 3.4 what should i know..?

So first I just need to say, Im not a guru on this stuff.
I currently have suite 2.24. Can I just go straight to suite 3.4 without any issues, or do I need to update to 3.0 first?
Will I lose any saved files in the process? Will I still be able to read AND edit all my old files?

Again im not a big computer guy and this kinda scares me, Im just nervous to update and be stuck without all my old data.
Yes ive tried searching but cant find and exact answer

    Thanks,
    Bryan

It's a straight upgrade.. No need to install in between versions.

The most difficult part will be getting used to the new scanner. The forum is a great tool for asking questions.

Files you save in 3.x cannot be opened by 2.x

We do not support the 2.x software in any way.. If you have any support issues in 3.x, we're here to help!

    Of course it will work.

You will be able to open all of your old tunes and logs. Once saved in the new version they can't be opened in the old version. The new version can open old files no problem.

Using old configs can be hit or miss. They should work but if not V3 is way easier/faster to setup charts/graphs/gauges on anyways. There are some step by step DIY threads at the top of the Scanner section (sticky), check those out if you need help getting started.

Thank you very much! Thats the little bit of "hand holding" I needed to go ahead with the upgrade.

install the new version to a different directory, so you can have both versions still available/running on your computer!

so you can still use your 2.24.xxx version as well...

if you just install the new version as-is, it will install to same directory as previous 2.24.xxx version, and you will lose it...

Only an option if you have the last version of 2.24

too late, I already over wrote it That would have been smart

However, when I went into Editor to begin playing around to get familiar, I quickly realized that something is amiss. I attempted to open my current tune (which is flashed into MY personal car) and the "unlicensed file" window popped up...? umm ive been tuning this file for like 3+ years now. Please dont tell me I have to repurchase more credits because I updated VCM versions?

    No, that would be dumb

Plug in your interface and go to help, VCM Suite Information, then hit the "i" button. That should sync up the licenses.

your Digital Outputs wont work with 3.4 if you use them with 2.24. Unless there's a recent update I missed...
