Yes it is, instead of one fixed low temp to trick the computer, this is a variable resistor that you can adjust what your temp reading is. Since in SD the IAT is used for airmass calculations and spark corrections, this is nothig more than a air/fuel dial really. Turn it to cooler temps and it will richen up, higher for leaner. I can adjust the fueling approximately 3 full points going from 45-100*F

Here you go, one log is hot restart that has always been an issue, and the other is a drive with a jacked up VE table so I could play with it to see what happened. I made some spots richer and some leaner.

it is about 90* out here today as well, so that start up the IAT was set too high anyway so that is part of why it is lean

definately not the right part number...

Looks like it is for a non-TCS car with a convertable.

That little damn dial it working out good. I think a tune at about 60*F (ambient) will be a good temp to dial in the VE for max adjsutability. It does effect WOT a good bit as well, havent had the car out for about 2 weeks so I had to open her up

In the morning I had it set to 82*F for the first part of the drive to lean it otu. The car is always richer on cold morning starts. When I went WOT the car was a touch on the lean side as it was aobut 60* out this morning.

I can also make the rich decel go away, which makes me wonder why in the world I cant fix it in the tune. I can go from 100*F and its at a 13.0:1 and go to 130*F and lean it out to a 14.7:1 on decel. Now I have to play with the settings, maybe the VE mult vs TPS can help those cells...

    well..I'm trying relocating the IAT

today I went and bought a metal freeze plug (1+3/8)
and drilled out a 3/4 hole for the IAT ruber grommet
forced the thing down into the EGR hole on my LS1 intake(since I have no EGR ) and pushed the IAT sensor down in it...
I wont haev a good chance to log Wideband data till maybe later next week....but its a definate trial...
adn I always thought it should be as close to the cylinders as possible to get the true Air temp anyways...

    I'd take a pic..but right now I dont have a camera....

I think that will still make it heat soaked like that, which is why I didnt do it. If it works just let us know. I have thought about puting the IAT sensor in the air ducting that goes to the brakes. All I care about is the ambient temp of the air. Using the pot. to set the temp has been working great, even on hot starts.

yeah..but with a pot you have to look at the data to tell whats going on and we want a fix so when you tune somebody elses car it
doesnt have issues 3 months down the road when the temps change with the seasons

I wasnt talking about doing that in someone elses car, just my own. The only other car I have in SD right now is my buddy so he knows about this stuff. Honestly, as long as the IAT sensor is near engine heat and the computer over corrects, I see no fix by just moving the IAT sensor. Even if I set it to the ambient temp with the potentiometer, it still goes too lean in the heat and too rich in the cold. I have to adjust based on about half the temperature delta (from the last SD tune temp to current temp)

I think the answer is goingto be more on the blend of IAT and ECT...let me do some probing...
