I had to go this FRPP route with my 2018 coyote 5.0 manual (M-6017-M50B).
I followed the advice of how to identify my ecu and so to pick the right hardware option. Non of it matches my ecu, so i started playing and the only pick under 'hardware' could read my ecu was 'TC-298, ECM, 2018+ Ford'.

Now am I having the right one? Am I seeing all setting options? Am I about to blow my ecu when writing to it? If it is wrong, how to move on?

I already send off a support request, but I am hoping to get solid advice here sooner.

Hi, I have a Continental RMFR3A-12A650-CLB that appears to have no data or file on it? I read it with TC1791 & followed the proceedure laid out in the above intstructions. After reading got the prompt to generate the OSID, hit OK, it earesed & started to write back but timed out at about 95%. It now has no data, will not start, crank over etc. Also when trying to view data with any diagnostic scanner it does not appear to have anything in it & HP Tuners MVPI2 does not recognise it, comes up detect protocol failed. What next?

Would TC-298 work with both manual and automatic control packs?

    Yes...and no.

I found that hardware is the same, even for 3.5 V6 manual or automatic but you need to not only swap OS but...you also need to work with your eeprom which HPT can't do.

I successfully reprogrammed F150 2.7 PCM to work as 5.0 Mustang but you need more advanced tools that reads not only flash but eeprom as well.

The same goes with manual to automatic.

Funny story: v6 pcm would take v8 file but only 6 cylinders would fire and will work just fine besides that...must be a cyl no selection switch in eeprom.

It presently has no information, won't begin, wrench over and so on. Would anyone happen to have a stock, untouched read from a M-6017-M50A? This is the 15-17 Gen 2 6r80 controls pack. I have a car here that is supposed to have that kit but I get the feeling this is a stock GT PCM that's been PATS disabled.

    Thanks!

Direct Memory Register, so you can log the actual variables being used.
