    "How to tune 6L80E"

Hey everyone, I'm trying to find a crash course for tuning the 6l80e. I was great at the 4l60e, but i picked up a gmc sierra Denali and I hate the way it shifts. I've figured out how to move my WOT shift rpm and speed. Truck has a bad lag between shifts at WOT. Thanks for the help. If you guys need to see the tune I can upload it when I get home from work.

Toss me a PM, it might be easier to explain over a quick call.

Only a few tables need adjusting, mainly the shift pressure, on coming pressure presets and shift time itself.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

OK so with the help of 5FDP and a few other sources I got the trans tuning down and its shifting good. The only thing that is bugging me is the pause between 1-2 shift. Was talking to a few others with same year trucks but ether 2wd or 4wd and 2wd guys dont have this issue, but when the 4x4 guy engage the 4x4 there trans shift the same way for 1-2 shift. So since mine is AWD i dont get a choice but there has to be some sort of TM affecting it or a table i'. not aware of. Any help would be great! Thanks.

So,...what did you do to fix the pause between 1-2 shift (so we all can learn for use now/in the future)? I'd bet there's lots of dudes out there not liking this lag too. Thanks man.

not a problem that is what this forum is all about (some seem not to like to help).
I adjusted the Inertia Factor Profile table under Trans/Auto Shift Properties/General/Inertia Factor Profile, and the Shift Time Inertia Adder table under shift time. I started by adding 1 to any area in the table that had a value of 3 or lower, then I lowered the values in the Shift Time Inertia Adder table as this is the table being referenced by the first table you adjusted. I left the first 2 cells alone and speed up the rest but dont go crazy. I can upload my tune if you guys want it. Hope this helps.

lol, the proper way to adjust shift feel, for both comfort and performance has been discussed extensively throughout this forum. Just a simple search away.

I had a hard time finding any so I asked the question... not to many came with an answer or an offer to help but 5FDP. There is much more to tuning the 6l80 than what I posted yes, but we were talking about the pause in-between 1-2 WOT shift. Thanks for the help...

Could you post some links to threads that you found beneficial? Seems you are familiar with these simple to find threads.

    Yes... please do!
.... I hate the forum police... "just search"... I just want to know what I want to know... not spend hours studying other folks conversations. Any links would be great so I don't offend the forum police.
    Thanks!

You can always pay for a course if you don't want to put in the effort to figure it out on your own.

True... but I've found that often paying for a course results in the same results. Would you suggest a good course worth paying for and won't end up with me needing to learn thru osmosis?

    Thanks!
you wont spend hours researching, but you expect others to spend hours typing out in depth responses. Totally logical. My response is because the informtion needed is massive, simple do this do thats dont work with this unit. There is tons and tons of information that is out there and needs to be researched. Dont like it, then your in the wrong hobby

Haha... very good point. It is all getting clearer as I work thru some of these things. Point taken.

Responding to old threads tends to be the result of my "searching"... I find old threads and just jump in where it left off. I'll keep plugging away! Thanks again.
